There is no procedure to close a Mint account (not bank accounts) if you decide no longer to use Mint. Therefore all the financial data you have will still be available to Mint even if you no longer use the service. This is a very bad error.

We don't have a close account option on the site because we're still in beta. You can, however, contact us with the email address associated with your account & we will close it manually.

Even though mint is beta, the ability to close accounts is critical.
Here is an example of why: I tried to close my account on 9/21/07, and was confirmed via email on 9/22/007 that my account would be closed. I assumed that meant it would be closed quickly. However, that appears to not be the case. I keep getting locked out of one of my banks that I set up in mint due to multiple invalid log on attempts. This has occurred since trying to close my account. I presume that mint/yodlee periodically attempts to authenticate. I have sent emails to feedback@mint.com and security@mint.com, so I am hopeful that this will get straightened out shortly... |

The close account requests from your period went out for production yesterday. I hope to hear back that they were closed today (I will send folks an email when I know it has been done).
Note: The other issue you mention is something we've escalated to our provider. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
