xWakawaka - I want the same functionality; good suggestion. Savings shouldn't be classified as spending.

Only been using the software for 2 days but I've come up with the following (I'm hoping that some or all of them can be rectified with a little more knowledge of the software on my part):
1) The ability to reclassify an account. In my case, I have an IRA account with Wells Fargo that is showing up as a cash account instead of an investment account. I would like to be able to re-classify this so it shows up under the Investments section 2) The ability to make more customized rules for categorizing transactions. Currently I have to rely on the Mint.com name of the transaction to make a rule from. I would like to be able to look at a transaction and set up a rule that will key off of some portion of the transaction that I know will always be on every transaction from that merchant. This would alleviate the problem where mint.com does not shorten names properly due to transaction ID's coming first in the description string pulled from the bank. 3) Allow categorization of pending transactions. This would help me to categorize them while they're fresh on my mind. 4) Have better algorithms for determining the display description on transactions. Currently it seems that Mint is only looking at the first 20 or so characters regardless of if they're numbers or letters and it strips out all the numbers and then just displays the leftover letters. Many times these letters are just part of a transaction ID. Mint should more elegantly shorten the descriptions automatically. |

I would love to be able to seeing pending transaction based on the information by me setting up rules as to when a transaction reoccurs.
I also would like to be able to change how an account is classifed. For example, like cbass I have cash accounts that are really investments and investments that are cash. Also would like to be able tos et-up profiles similiar to Yodlee that I can include certain accounts and then when in the Transaction and Trend tabs I would like to be able to only see the accounts in that profile. This way I can set-up a rpofile for retirement and non-retirement accounts. |

I 2nd this but go further to say, make a "Droid" app.
Also, please fix the duplicates. I just signed up 2.5 months ago and I'm finding a ton of duplicates. It's not been that big of a deal because I'm going back through and marking them accordingly, but it's cumbersome. Otherwise, great job! ![]() Edit: Oh SNAP! I'm post 1234! Shaaaweeeet! |

My biggest request, is really simple and would help MINT mimic the real world a bit more.
THE PROBLEM: In the real world: If i go shopping for clothes at a large store in my town, say "mega market". Then return to a different "mega market" chain outside of my town and buy lunch at their hot meals counter. Then return to "mega market" while on vacation and withdraw money via atm. My bank transaction details reflect these differences "Mega Market - local, CA", "Food purchase at Mega Market Foods - out of town, NY" , "ATM withdrawl at Mega Market Foods - madrid, spain". However in mint, all three transactions appear simply as one non descript simple rolled up label... "mega market". Any category or rule a user might want to create has to apply to all of the transactions rolled up as "mega market" equally. This problem occurs because mint transactions and transaction rules don't use the details of the transaction. Because of this rolling up of transactions by label and not transaction details Mint is a lot less useful and precise than it could be. THE FIX / FEATURE: There is a button under each transaction that says "edit details". In the details area of this button you can see the detailed transaction info with the type of purchase and location however you can't base a rule on this information. If MINT allowed us users to base our rules and categories on this information we would gain so much control and use. We would be able to write transaction rules like .."if the transaction details include Mega Market and ATM categorize as ATM & Cash Withdrawl"... or "if the transaction details include Mega Market and local,CA rename 'Shopping at local Mega Market'"... This features covers a major hole in MINT logic and allows for the precision and classification one gets in the real world when doing personal finance tracking. Thank you. |

I have just switched from Microsoft Money which I used for nearly 8 years. The number 1 feature that would help me make the final transition is the ability to adjust the budget balance for each category.
The rollover feature is great. But I need a starting balance. For example, I budget $150 a month for Home repair and I already had a few hundred dollars set aside for this category when I started using Mint. If I was able to manually adjust the balance, then I could allow mint to keep track of everything on a go forward basis. Additionally, there are times where I know that I want to adjust the budget balance for whatever reason. An example would be, I have been running a surplus in home repair and running negative in auto repair. I would like to reduce the home repair category and increase the auto repair category to even everything out. Just an example. This should be pretty easy to implement. Keep the good work up. I love the application. Especially the iPhone app. Thanks! |
