Hi,
I split the cost of rent with my partner; we each pay $875 per month. On Mint.com I budget $875; however, I write a check for the total amount of $1750. My partner personall gives me a check for $875. My budget shows I'm over $875 each month on rent. How do I account for the check from my partner? Is there a way to apply his check to that category as income? Brian |

Just categorize the check as the same category (Probably "Rent" or "Mortgage") and it will show as a positive to your budget. This way you can budget 875 and while you may be off for a brief period of time, when you deposit the check from your roommate, you'll be back to even.

my boyfriend gives me his portion of rent and bills all in a pile of cash. I deposit this and categorize it as income, and edit the title as "from bf". My budget shows the full amount of bills that I pay, although it includes both of ours. It works great for me.
