I have bank of america checking, savings and credit card accounts that were all working fine with Mint from July 14, 2009 (when i first made an acct) until October 27 (exactly one week ago from today). I am getting an error with ONLY THE CREDIT CARD that says "problem accessing your account!" What's strange is my checking and savings accounts connect fine (transactions and balances updated through today)...they are all linked accounts so obviously the login information is accurate. I have already tried clicking "fix it" and mint tries to reauthenticate, but it still fails to connect.
If this problem persists mint.com is worthless to me. Has anyone run into this problem? If so, how can I fix it?
Thanks.
I spent a bunch of time on the Mint Forums, but wasn't able to find any solutions, so once I figured out how to fix the problem, I thought I would write it up and post it here.
Basically the problem stems from having linked your credit card to your Checking and Savings Account in your B of A online profile. The way to fix it is to call Bank of America NorthWest Customer Service @ 1-800-442-6680.
Tell them you need to "set up a model credit card profile" (this is the wording they told me to post on this forum) and they will give you an additional Online ID to access your Credit Card. This will not change your ability to see the credit card in your original Checking & linked Savings online account, it will just give you and additional way to look at your credit card account (with much better online functionality than the linked version!)
Once you have this additional Online ID, you can add it to mint, and Problem Solved!

Hi Russ,
Thanks for your write-up, it solved my problems!
Here is the description of what my problem was for those who are interested.
http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=9414
Shame on Bank of America...I had to delete my old account (losing ALL of my historic data) and add the new one.
Hello,
We have reported this to engineering. Please keep an eye here for updates.
Good day!
Hi Russ,
Thank you for the solution. It worked beautifully for me. My wife also asked to thank you. I have one question, how did you figure this out? Nice!:D

FYI, i never had to do this and my B of A account has always seen both cards and checking at the same time, so fyi its not necessary in all cases

Hi have been using Mint.com now to track my BOA account. Just like the original poster my BOA online account has all my accounts linked to it (thats how it was set up by default - nothing special).
Everything was working and tracking fine on Mint.com till pretty much the same day as the original poster noted. Then all of a sudden JUST my credit card stopped logging trasactions.
All my other accounts (checking/savings) that are associated with the exact same BOA online account still work fine - as do my other non-BOA accounts.
Obviously something happened on that day to make is stop working. Mint.com - keep us posted!

I've had the exact same problem; except I've been using Mint since November 2008 without any problems.
Customer service, please help!
(Note: I don't feel that erasing all of my existing data and getting a new -mock- account at BoA as a solution. Whoever tried this, did you lose all of your old data?)
Cheers,

I hope this gets worked out soon because Mint is totally useless to me without this credit card working. It has been working just fine for me for 8 months. I am one of those with a credit card that is linked to the same account as my checking and savings. I am afraid to use the fix mentioned above because I don't want to lose all of my previous data and I don't want to deal with overlapping data either. Mint please help, I know you said that you reported this to your engineers but it has been over two weeks since this problem started.

Please try the above workaround.
NOTE: There is no need for you to delete your old cc account from Mint. You can mark any overlap in the transactions as duplicate. Or, you can mark the old cc account as "Hidden" while our engineers are working on a permanent fix.
Big thanks to Russ! :)

I have been having this same problem with my Fifth Third Credit Card as well. It is linked to my Savings and checking accounts and does not have its own unique login.
I will call Fifth Third to see if they can make a dummy username for the credit card without losing all of my history.

I have been having the same problem with my BoA credit card (and reluctance to make any changes that might lose data) and now today the card says it is a CountryWide Home Loan. Very weird. I hope this can be resolved soon. Without accurate information, using Mint doesn't make much sense.

well, i promised i would let you know what happened with mine. unfortunately, i see my gas transaction for my B of A card. it was issued through AAA. so, i dont know, i am not having this same problem, it seems it might be something other than a global issue.

I have the exact same issue. But there does seem to be a reason. I logged into my BOA online account and it looks like they have now linked my Countrywide mortgage to the account (new feature i guess) so that is probably messing up Mint.

Yup, mint is totally borked when it comes to BoA credit cards. It worked fine about two weeks ago. Then it stopped and when I tried to re-add it was linking to Country Wide Home Loans which I don't even have. Now it says no account found when I try to add it.
Mint has really gone down the crapper ever since the Quicken acquisition.

I tried the workaround. I called B of A and they said my credit card was already set up with the model profile and that they didn't know what the problem was. I subsequently tried deleting the card and re-adding and now Mint reports invalid account. It looks like I can no longer track my B of A Visa via Mint. Things were working fine one month ago.

B of A bought countrywide, the cards are now titled countrywide, it might not be a mint issue.

Interesting. As another side note. My BoA credit card still downloads transactions fine in Quicken Online. If somehow Mint and Quicken combined that would be great :D
JNjunior i am having the EXACT same issues and have been extremely frustrated. I too deleted all of my transactional history and would love to have it recovered by MINT. Please keep posting your progress and let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.

Same issue here for 3 weeks now. (since the last week of oct)
Mint still reads my checking and savings account but not the linked credit card account under the same log-in.
I've been tracking purchases this way for over a year now and I really don't want to restart the history to add the credit card under another account option.
Any updates?

As others have mentioned, Mint is worthless to me without my BofA credit card, my main form of payment. Email response Monday was "We are aware of this issue and we are actively addressing this now."
Well, it's been three weeks with this problem, and I don't understand why the security questions used for all my other BofA accounts can't be added to fix this issue. I shouldn't have to call my bank, set up a workaround, then mark 2 years of transactions as duplicates in order to see my accounts from one of the nation's largest banks!
Mint, please fix this - I'm on the verge of abandoning your product.

BOA credit card worked fine with Mint for many months until the end of Oct.. Now 2wks of "problem accessing account". Tried to fix, eventually deleted and re-added. Now it says "account not found". Mint now useless for me too.

Same problem here. My BOA credit card transactions have stopped updating since Oct 23. I also do not want to create a 'workaround' and have to erase duplicates. i think the problem is on BOA's side. i've checked quicken online support forums - it seems people are having the same issue there.

I checked out a rival product, Thrive, which also has an iPhone app. I was unable to add my Bank of America credit card there, as it states "account closed".
Apologies, Mint, it must be BofA.

I went ahead and did the work around and it worked well. I am keeping the old BOA credit card account up on mint and will hide it when 2010 comes around. I thought there would be a big problem with duplicate transactions but the new work around account only went back a couple of days before my old account stopped working. So I just looked at all of the transactions for the new account, and clicked the box next to all of the transactions that were overlapped and then clicked edit multiple and marked them as duplicates. And now all is working well. If you do the work around don't worry about losing the transactions in the old account, they will still be there as long as you don't delete the account. Don't delete your old account.
Anyways, I am thankful to whoever it was that figured out this work around! It has solved my problems!

jnjunior, what department did you speak to inorder to get a model profile created? What state was your account originated in? Apparently their are 3 types of accounts: California, Washington/Idaho, and Model (rest of the country).
I spoke to the Model Cutomer Service department and their system was unable to create a model profile for my account, possibly because my account was created in Washington. They said they created and submitted a bug regarding this and that I would have to call back in about 6 days to check on the status.

My account originated in Washington. I called 1-800-442-6680 and talked to the credit card department. They had some trouble at first making it work but the lady on the phone persisted and got it done. It worked for me instantly. I went online while I was still on the phone with her and set up the account with the new login she gave me and that was that. Maybe I would try calling back or something. I wish the old way just continued to work because this is just a big pain for all of us.

Ok, after 5 tranfers and about an hour on the phone, I think I have the solution. I believe this only works if you have a Model credit card (not opened in Washington, Idaho, or California) and savings and/or checking accounts that were opened in Washington or Idaho, not sure about California. Call 1-800-933-6262 and ask for an additional online ID for your credit card. They are only able to create the additional ID for the above described scenario so make sure you explain it to them, otherwise they will pawn the request off saying that they cannot create an additional ID unless there are multiple people on the account.
They will give you a new online ID and temporary password that you will have to change upon first login. After logging in, you can add a new Bank of America (non Washington/Idaho) credit card in Mint.
Hope this helps.

So with this work around it sounds like you will end up with two seperate logins for the bank of america web site. One to view your credit card and the other to view your checking? If this is the case I'll just stop using Mint as I don't want to seperate logins.

You will still be able to view your checking, saving, AND credit cards from your original login, but now you will have a second login that will only be able to view your credit cards. You will probably never need to actually login to the second account from B of A's website.

I'm in the same boat. Mint needs to fix this or the site is useless to me.
Tried to do the work-around. But the customer service reps were confused and kept transferring me to different people who weren't helpful at all. My account is in Washington.
I'm sure the problem lies with BofA in WA/Idaho. We still don't have mobile banking here, as the rest of the country does. So I'm not surprised they're creating issues that prevent access from third-party websites.

Emerald or anyone else with this problem that has a WA state account please let me know what verbiage I can use when talking to customer service to get the work around to work.
I called customer service and was unable to get them to create a separate log-in account for just my credit card. They said it was not possible the way their system is set up.

Im also in WA State, and use BoA for two savings, two checking accounts and a BoB Credit Card.
I'm having the same problem everybody else is experiencing.
I do most of my transactions on the CC, and I cannot get mint to log in. The login is the same as the savings and checking accounts. The error message I get is "Account Not Found".
Like others, this renders mint completely useless for me.
I got on the phone to try the "work around" and after 20 minutes of getting transfered I gave up.
Somebody at mint please fix!
Thank you!

It's been over a month since the last post in this thread so, BUMP. Any word on the progress of this issue Mint?
I've had the same issue mentioned above for months now. My account is in Washington state as well. I do not want to attempt the "setup model account" workaround if I can help it. This is the only issue I've ever had with Mint, please help me/us out. I'd love to continue using your amazing free service but I need my credit card transactions.

I emailed Mint about this last Nov and they told me about the "model credit card", mentioned earlier. I called BofA, had it setup, and it has worked fine until about a week ago.
I now get the "temporary issue" error. Apparently the band-aid fix was short-lived.
My account is also in WA.
