I love mint and have successfully used it to save this past year. One of the best features of mint.com is the new trends section with its choice of many graphs, and the ability to hide accounts.
I have since structured my routine bills and living expenses by having them draw exclusively from a separate bank account so that I can account for my 'play' spending money week by week by hiding out the other accounts. I also hide all my investment accounts. I can now view all the money that most matters - my truly disposable income. My favorite graphs are spending over time and net worth over time.
My recommendation is for mint to offer customized alerts for these (filtered) graphs in the trends section. I would absolutely love to get week-by-week updates of these customized views of my financial life. I would be able to track the rate at which I am depleting my disposable income and the rate at which I am growing my net worth.
