I was wondering the other day if I ever needed Mint's help on some eventual fraud involving my account, how could I contact them? Would they cooperate with any investigation? How could / would they help?
Well, it turns out you can't even find a phone number or even an address to send official mail!
I was shocked!!!
Mint seems to be another one of those companies that look great when everything is working, but when sh*t hits the fan, they hide behind some "Contact us" web form... (Have you ever experienced that? It's quite frustrating...)
I believe in UK companies are required to provide this kind of info... Now I understand why...
Have you ever needed Mint's help on anything? How did you contact them?
How would someone be able to defraud your actual accounts if they gain access to your mint account?
There is no info to be gained from mint that could allow fraudulent access to your actual accounts.

it doesnt matter what kind of account you have on mint, there is no way to take money out or even transfer money through mint. all it is a list of dollar amounts. I could give anyone a stack of numbers any day, they wont be able to do anything with it.

sure... can you also give "anyone" all the passwords to all your "stack of numbers" and feel as confident that nothing will happen?
(I'm not sure you fully grok what Mint does...)

I dont know about you, but i have 33 accounts on Mint.
besides the fact that mint's info is encripted.. maybe you should read up on it.
Any transactions to my credit cards that are fraudulent (i would know cause i check every day) I would not be liable for.
Any fraudulent actions to my bankS where they have paid a bill to themselves -- i would know cause i check every day -- EVEN IF THEY GOT PAST ME.. it would not exceed more than $800 because I pay my bills the same day I get paid and I rarely have any more than that sitting in my account for more than a day or two.
Impossible to transfer money out of my savings, these things take 3 days and they always send me an email.
umm... what else is there? would someone try to sell my stock? selling stock takes a day, the money stays in my account, and i would know it because i check mint every day. any withdrawels from my stock accounts would be impossible, since i check every day, and it takes 3 days or more plus a verification email to add a new account to withdraw to.
seriously though, even if someone got all my passwords after i went to sleep and did a bunch of stuff at night, i honestly dont think any of it would actually go through, as I would login first thing in the morning and catch all pending transactions, new bill pay accounts, or even password changes. i would catch all of it, either by email warnings, email verifications, or just knowing my balances have changed by watching Mint.

and i never said i would give out my passwords silly, just my stack of balances, its just a bunch of numbers. sooooooo if someone figured out my mint password, or somehow my computer stored it and someone broke into my house and stole my computer and was able to login to mint, they cant touch my accounts.

oh one more thing then im done.
You will find it very difficult to purchase anything with just a credit card number. There is a security number on the face of the actual credit card that you need to purchase anything online. Your online account credit card account doesnt store this number, and Mint certainly doesnt either.
