What are some GOOD money saving tips?

I am planning a vacation, and I am giving myself about a year (not set in stone) to save and plan. Do you have any good money saving tips? I want to open a saving account that I don't have an ATM card too, otherwise I think I would spend it..... So, any tips?

use your tax refund, dont touch it. likewise when a chunk of money comes your way, dont use it. deposit and forget it.

Set up an online account at something like ING. You can have as many savings accounts as you want, and name them for different things. There is an account that you can set up as a checking account, and you can have a debit card/write checks from it, but you'd have to physically transfer the money from your savings account to your checking account.

I think between my wife and I we have ~10 different accounts at ING, for everything from an upcoming vacation, to a new car fund, to a general/long-term savings account.
