Hi.
I got a little ahead of myself when I was dealing with the Wamu to Chase merger. I thought deleting my WaMu account from Mint and then adding Chase would be fine but I've noticed the info in Cashflow is messed up now. It has me in the red for the months before I deleted the WaMu info.
Is there anything I can do?
I imagine it will mess up the budgeting calculation that Mint provides. Should I just leave it be and let it reconfigure itself as the months pass and new info populates?
Should I be as drastic as deleting my Mint account and starting fresh?

Damn man (@danootz),
I thought i was the only one that made this mistake. I has assumed that since Chase took over, all transactions from Wamu would be moved over (which they have on the Chase website). I thought Mint would be able to do this too, so I rashly added Chase and once I saw it was working, I deleted Wamu :( :(
Since then I've read a lot on these forums and contacted mint and it seems that the only we can do is wait until they incorporate adding custom transactions to Mint. There is no way to get those old Wamu transactions back. It sucks!!!
I wish that had put a disclaimed saying that all data will be deleted when I clicked on that delete button. gah.

I fell into this same trap... Fortunately all I lost was my income information... Still... My net income is ruthless now...

I guess you mean "worthless", but yes, it seems to be gone forever. I had the same problem even though I never actually deleted my accounts! I just marked them as closed as Mint.com people on this forum instructed me, and it still seems to have lost all the data.
It's a crappy position to be in, because I have a ton of useful credit card data in Mint, but it's corrupted by the total absence of income data, which had all been in WaMu. So basically Mint thinks I've been spending money for the last three years without ever having any income! That tends to fuck the stats up real good.
It really makes me mad that Mint's instructions were either inadequate or (more likely) untested. I guess we're getting what we paid for, eh?

I lost all my transactions when I deleted the account. I had no idea that would happen. I figured worst case, the login information would be lost. I hope Mint.com can go to their database backups and restore the missing transactions.
If they had an option to upload a CSV file of past transactions, that would certainly help. I'm guessing we might be able to get Chase.com to allow us to download this (or maybe the feature is already there?)

Hi WaMu to Chase Minters,
I'm working with our development team to find a way to help you all get your WaMu transactions into your Chase account in Mint. We have some testing to do but I will post a plan of action this week here on THIS forum for next steps. Sorry for the frustration this has caused you all. Stay tuned.

I am in the same boat - lost my Wamu transactions when I added Chase and deleted Wamu account yesterday. In addition, I deleted my 'Countrywide bank' account as well because I saw login errors since the 'Countrywide bank to Bank of America' transition.
Is there anyway I can get back my 'Countrywide bank' transactions into my 'Bank of America' account?
Thanks in advance.

I added the Chase account, but haven't deleted my Wamu (thought I should check the forums first, good thing I did) Now of course it's showing a lot more money than I actually have since it shows everything up til Wamu stopped, and now duplicates with the transactions on Chase too.. What's the plan for those of us that added Chase, but haven't deleted Wamu?

If you are a WaMu user who Deleted your WaMu checking/savings in Mint.com instead of setting it to Closed, we *will* be able to restore your historical transaction data. Please email us FROM the email account you use for Mint.com
TO: feedback@mint.com
Subject: Deleted WaMu Account
Please input your email address in the email body as well and send. We will work to get all of your data imported into your new Chase checking/savings in Mint.com.
We will process these in batches so please be patient while we try and resolve all requests.
For those of you that Closed your accounts and worked out the duplications and everything is okay coming through your new Chase checking/savings, you still have the problem of seeing your WaMu account in error state (and if you have not removed the duplicates from WaMu your balances will be inflated). We will have a solution for this soon. Please just try and ignore the WaMu account in error state for now.
We have seen reports where users have gone back into their WaMu accounts and input their new Chase checking/savings id/pw. We're not sure why WaMu/Chase is allowing this but we don't plan on supporting this method if that is what you are choosing to do. It may be working now but we have no idea when or if it will be end-of-lifed. Please note.
Also note this is only for WaMu checking/savings. We will address Loans, Mortgage and other accounts later, if necessary.

awesome response, but wow that took over 2 months!
this hasnt happened to me, but if it did, i would make a new mint account to keep going with the day to day operations, but keep my old one open and wait for the fix.

..... you still have the problem of seeing your WaMu account in error state ....
This is exactly what started the issue for me. When I saw the Wamu account in error state, I thought I should remove the account to resolve it, and it deleted all my old transactions! :(

Seriously. This was disastrously handled. Heckuva job, Mintie. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO2xi0uLnj8&fmt=18)
The WaMu to Chase migration came out of the biggest bank failure in US history (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/26/business/26wamu.html). It was one of the most significant consumer financial events of the last year (which is saying a lot). It took months and months to happen...and yet it seemed to take Mint.com totally by surprise with no clear plan to help customers through it. Even when it was clearly a problem, it took 2 months to get help. Awful.

Just curious if anyone has gotten their lost Wamu transactions restored. I followed Stephen's instructions, but haven't heard back from Mint regarding this restoration.

Same situation here - I emailed mint and so far nothing has happened.

Stephen helped me...I think I was one of the first to get my account restored. Can you pull his email from his Forum post? Try to email him directly.
Also, I do think this is a Chase issue. Apparently they were completely non-responsive to Mint's requests for support. Additionally, think about Mint having been just this new brash thing that was cool & free. Then the market crashed and SO MANY banks went belly up. All of their systems are proprietary and it can't be easy to integrate. Hiccups are bound to happen. Having said that, it's counter-intuitive to delete an account history.

I appreciate you letting me know your successes with the restoration. I will try contacting Stephen directly, and will post my results for any other users in the same situation.
Regarding the bank failures, this is a good point. However, if Mint would simply say, "we're busy with 100's of other problems, your issue is low priority, BUT in the queue", or rather, "sorry, you're not getting the transactions restored" (hopefully not this one), at least I would know what is going on rather than getting no response to my inquiries about the promised restoration.

Was there ever a solution for those of us that haven't deleted our WAMU account? I have added Chase but still have WAMU listed in its "error" state and obviously have the inflated balance issue. How can I fix this?

I have been waiting for months while staring at duplicate entries that messed up my whole analysis page. Is there a solution yet?

Hi Ed,
Private Message me including the email address you use for Mint. We have processed several batches. I will check to see why yours was not processed if you submitted it already. Thanks.

I've both e-mailed Mint.com support as well as contacted them via the form at the bottom of the Get Help page. No response, and no action taken. I'm missing a huge chunk of financial data from WaMu.

same issue happened to me, too.
I emailed my email address/user name as Stephen suggested, but my WaMu account data is still gone :(
