View Full Version : Two credit card management suggestions: new bill and payment made

When you use credit cards, there's a certain point between receiving a new bill and the due date for that payment when the credit card reports your current balance to a credit agency. That means even if you're paying your bills on time, the credit report will reflect your balance BEFORE you paid the bill.

With that in mind, it would be really nice to have a feature where Mint.com sends an alert when we've received a new bill, so that we can avoid that ding on our credit report by paying it as soon as possible.

The other feature I'd love to see is sort of along the lines of a "pending" transaction. For myself, I try to pay my bills as much in advance as possible (see above), so when I get an alert from Mint.com saying I have a credit card bill coming due in a week, I think that something has gone wrong with my previous payment. If there's some way the alert system could be shut off if a payment has already been made - or, alternatively, if we could receive a different alert saying "Your bill is due, but you've already made the minimum payment. Why don't you make an additional payment to reduce your credit burden?" or something, that would be nice too.

Thanks for the free service!
