I propose that certain transaction categories present a "detail" icon within the register view. One specific example would be for "Gas/Fuel". The detail to collect would be "Which car", "price/gallon", "octane", "mileage", "tank level".
Of course there would have to be a place to add your vehicle(s) in the account profile, which would include detail like "Fuel Capacity", "Starting Mileage". Perhaps the user is even offered to create an asset and/or lease/loan account, when those account types are supported.
Then, in some report tab, Mint could calculate your vehicle(s) fuel efficiency and compare with that of other Mint user's vehicles (all anonymous and aggregated data, of course).
Further, if the retailer provides a location or zip code in the additional data, Mint could make suggestions as to how to save by fueling up in the locales with the lowest fuel prices.
Just some ideas, spawned mostly because I spent like $200 on Fuel last month. :-)
