I am writing to follow up on an e-mail I received regarding Mint.com going live. I am stunned at this decision--this system is nowhere near ready to come out of beta. Many users (even from the limited beta pool, much less scaled up) cannot access the information from their account with major banks, much less take advantage of Mint's other services.

Going live early with some small, minor issues is one thing, but that is not the picture I am seeing on the forums. I honestly do hope that you don't suffer major business blowback by forcing a release in coordination with TechCrunch40--using that event to go live gets your name out there, but if you are live too early . . . the subsequent reputation hit will be extremely difficult to overcome. Just, wow.

Maybe I am in the small minority and most people this Mint.com is ready to go live. I hope that is the case.

Best of luck,
Jim

Why are you so worried? Just because the average age of the employees is probably 25 years old, none of them are legally responsible if they screw up, the terms of service force you to give up your legal rights (until you sue for them back), there's no reason to sweat it. There are zippy graphics, a web 2.0 voice, that is, like, so totally cool, and they like, they are totally humble and they'll, like, totally apologize and send you a bag of mints if they make a mistake... ...with your personal financial data....

I do apologize for all of the issues. However, the site is still in beta right now & actually having more customers helps us identify key issues that need to be resolved. Believe me, our engineering guy is probably going crazy right now trying to fix bank specific issues.

Note: While the forums give the indication that everyone is having issues, not every customer is having an issue with adding accounts.

Hi mintlover,

I am afraid that I am considerably past 25 now...even if I act like it.

Actually going live was going to be one of my suggestions. I felt like Mint lost some people to other websites, because the people were tired of waiting for the site to go live. Honestly I looked around too. I think more problems are likely to come up, and that is expected, but addressing those things quickly is the key to what can make or break mint. I hope the bank issues get resolved fast because compared to everything else not having access to their accounts will definitely turn people away.
