Obtaining a credit score for each user would be huge value add for your customer base not to mention it would give you the ability to a more detailed service (checking, savings, loans, etc).
My old credit card (provident) used to display my credit score but they got bought out by chase and chase removed that feature. Does anyone know of any credit card company/bank that will give you this information as a value add (no cost)?

Credit Karma is good for this. It is free and secure. I wrote a review of it here: http://www.narrowbridgeadventures.com/2008/10/how-to-pull-your-credit-score-for-free/
Also, this might not be the best category of the forum to post something like this in. A bit off topic.

It is essential to know that having good credit score is important. By having good score getting unsecured credit cards and applying for loans is much easier.

I would love a way to get a truly free credit score.
It's my info, I don't think I should have to pay for it.
If Mint could get it, that would be fantastic.

i signed up for credit karma this weekend. yes it is free, i didnt have to input any credit card info, and i still got a score. I was pleased to see that it had gone up into the 700s since last i checked at myfico.
however, i think everyone should use the myfico score as the standard. as you know all the credit scores can be different. when you want to see "what is my credit score" you never actually see the one the bank is looking at, because you dont know what they are looking at, sometimes they look at fico, sometimes they look at their own calculation.
now im optimisitic about my credit score, so im going to have to buy one from my fico because im seriously considering refinancing my house, but i wont do it until i know my fico score (you can only get this from myfico)

The only way anyone should be getting free credit reports is by using this link: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
It's the free, truly official way to do it.

Just live life without credit. :) It's nice being able to keep my entire paycheck without payments on anything.

sure if you make enough money to save up for a house and a car within a reasonable number of years of your lifetime, but if you cant, you need good credit. all debt comes for a fee unless you let a dealership wrap those fees into the price of the car.. but anyway, it depends on how you want to live.
so i've been using credit karma for a week now and its 714, higher than my FICO (687). I check it every day and the credit karma score has changed about 4 points up and down, and i really dont know why, if anything ive been paying DOWN my debt and by over $1000 a month. I see that its hooked into Transunions True credit. Heres the thing. Banks look at the FICO score, but when you buy your credit score from the agencies, typically you are not getting a FICO score, because FICO is licensed and patented by someone else. Only at myFICO.com can you buy your FICO. There is no guarantee that any other credit score is anywhere close to your FICO, usually its about 30 points off. Heres another thing there is another score called a VANTAGE score and it's range is different from FICO and of course is calculated diffently from fico. I bought my VANTAGE score last week to a rude awakening. Not only was my score in the 500s, (my FICO is 687) on a scale of 501 to 990, it really looks bad!

Instead of myfico.com i use Experian and they offer a monitoring service for all three services. Notifies you if there is any activity across all three accounts and will provide you the vantage score as well.

im still checking my score at credit karma every day. i know its not the same as my FICO score, but its indicative of any score changes to my account. I'm also a member of AAA and they are offering a free credit monitoring service right now. So far no major changes to my score, i was hoping it would go up by at least 10 points, i would like more leverage to get a good rate on my home refinance.

On the contrary... If you do not have payments (cars, credit cards, etc) and live reasonably humble for a few years it does not take long to save up for a house... If you're really impatient you can at least save up for one helluva down payment.
Your first statement basically says that you have no intentions of ever paying off the house... I mean, if you can't save $150,000 for a house what makes you think you'll be able to pay off the $300,000 in payments over the life time of the loan? For $1500/mo you can buy that house in cash in 8 years. Not too bad.
You should read Dave Ramsey's book, Total Money Makeover (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FTotal-Money-Makeover-Financial-Fitness%2Fdp%2F0785289089%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks% 26qid%3D1265045647%26sr%3D8-1&tag=comparibooks-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) and he'll convince you. The idea that debt is "just a part of life" is complete garbage and he proves it so.
Sorry, I should've have been preaching there, but it works. I don't make much at all, seriously, and I own a rental property (paid for) and living humbly with rent until I can save for another house... I'm 25, by the way. Go on with your credit, though.
