View Full Version : USAA Accounts stopped updating - USAA CC error's out

The Bank Accounts establish connection, passes pw, and seems to download transactions. However, when the update is completed the last update time reports two days. No new transactions have been added since then.
The USAA CC account completely stopped working. This account reports incorrect user name or password.
USAA did a website redesign two days ago. This is when the Mint problems started. Everything was working GREAT prior to this.
Thanks!

I will post an update on these issues when I know more.
Note: USAA has historically given us a few fits for customers, even when folks are trying to simply add an account.

I know when I added my USAA account in Mint it had a field for question 1 with all the login info. USAA actually has several questions and I wonder if this might have something to do with the issues.
USAA might be asking for the answer to a question that wasn't provided. I'm having the same issue so I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in.

As far as I know, Yodlee is still having problems with USAA. Once they get it updated, I'm sure Mint will work also. As stated, it is due to the site update.

Any updates on this? I just added a USAA account and I've never seen anything other than "We're having issues right now. Trying again a bit later should do the trick!"
FWIW - Trying again a bit later did not do the trick.

I'm also having issues with USAA. I can add the checking and savings accounts without a hitch, but it only gives me an error for trying to add credit cards. My amex also shows up in my checking list… i don't know why it does that.
Thanks!

if you have created nicknames for your cc accounts at usaa.com, try reverting to the default name. for some reason, that did the trick for me.

I tried but USAA keeps changing it back to my nickname after I log out.

I've had Mint now for a few months and the USAA credit card function is just one of those things that I think will forever be broken. Every couple of weeks Mint is unable to connect to USAA CC and then I re-input my login data and it works again.
This may have something to do with the number of security questions available on the login info panel on Mint. I think that my USAA account asks 4 different personal questions of me and I can only put 3 into Mint. Maybe the hang-up comes about when USAA asks Mint for an answer it doesn't know.

Well, the other week I was having an issue with my Checking/Savings account telling me it cannot get my information although none of my sign-in information changed. Then it somehow got fixed, and not it's back to the same old "incorrect user name/ password". This is pretty annoying...

USAA is acting up again for me.
CC account will not update at all....say wrong username and password
With Savings and Checking, the account totals updated, but the transactions will not download.

I'm going to try contacting USAA about maybe finding a solution (they have the best customer service known to man) but the problem probably sits on Mint's side of the table.
There has to be something that USAA is asking for that we don't have the ability to include or Mint just hasn't put much effort into this one. I have multiple accounts with USAA and multiple accounts with HSBC, the HSBC ones all come up under one heading, but the USAA loads (or fails to load) each as individual accounts.
You know, if this doesn't get resolved we can always stage a big internet advocacy "Mint.com doesn't care about the troops" PR bomb until it's fixed.
Anybody with me?

Before we all start blaming Mint, make sure you try the following after logging into USAA.com:
Go to MY PROFILE | MY PERSONAL INFORMATION
On the right, the column labeled "I Want To...", select "UPDATE MY SECURITY QUESTIONS. Make sure you update the data there with what Mint is passing to USAA.
Good luck.

So, erm, uh, I think you may have been right. I think I may have "misremembered" one of the 3 security questions after all. Sorry for the negative posts, and thank you. I am an idiot.

I have been having the same problems with USSA Investments. My account had been working fine until a few days ago.
Since then I have:
- verified my USAA password, login, and security questions
- tried to recreate my mint 'usaa investments' account
My USAA savings and checking accounts do not appear to have had any problems. (They have the same username, login, and security questions.)
Thanks

Is your investment account a 529 by chance? That's all I have with USAA, and it stopped working for me at Mint about 4 months ago, and hasn't worked since. Trying to add it gives a "couldn't find your account" error, even though I have triple-checked all the information.

Yes, it is a 529 and my account stopped working 4 months ago, also.

Can this issue be fixed? Thank you.

I've been experiencing similar issues lately.
My investment account stopped working 2 weeks ago
When this happened previously, i would re-enter my user/password for the USAA login site, and it would generally update. Since the launch of the new "Account Management" on mint, i no longer have an area where i can update account passwords. There is a button that says "fix-it" but it doesn't lead to anything useful

I sent an email to customer service and they said (for my account at least) this is a bug in my account that they need to investigate and are currently doing so. They were insistent on not deleting the account and re-adding it since that would cause the bug to go away while they were looking.
So it seems they're working on it. Just a heads up.

Ever since I've been a mint.com user, there have been issues with mint.com not being able to access my USAA information without typing in my info again each time. That was annoying but doable.
Lately (since the latest site redesign, it seems) I haven't been able to access my USAA information through mint.com at all, even with re-entering all of my information.
Not just annoying now... but unusable.
Is this not a priority for mint.com? It seems like there are a LOT of us having these issues...

I'm in a similar situation and moving all I can to USAA. They aren't catering well to the iPhone or USAA crowd very we'll. I am both and now my - al be it short - time with mint is over.
There iPhone app does not allow updating through the app I have to instead login to there website which is not iPhone friendly. USAA will not work.
If only it would work I'd be so happy as this has great potential however I am done waiting and seeking alternatives.

Same issues here. I use USAA for all my banking and CC needs. I signed up for Mint a few weeks ago and loved it. Everything seemed to work perfectly until about a week ago, and now my USAA accounts (which are almost everything I use) won't update. Makes the site totally useless to me until fixed.
:(
Hi Minters,
I have checked a few Mint accounts and found that most of USAA accounts have been encountering errors. Would you know if USAA changed something from their site?
Note: The error you're encountering with USAA accounts occurs when a security mismatch is found.
Note: For NEWLY added accountS, please delete the account from your profile, then re-add it. Some customers were able to fix the problem by doing so. Make sure you set up same set of security questions you have on your bank site and on Mint.com site. It should be in the same exact order.
The error code being returned is for invalid user credentials. The reasons for this can be found below:
1. The customer is not entering in the correct username and password for their bank.
2. If security questions are present in our form, located below the username and password, your bank requires answering these when logging in from a different computer. Tips for answering these questions can be found in this link: http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=2259
3. If your bank requires security questions logging in from a different computer & Mint is missing these questions on our form, please see this link: http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=2702
4. Our form may be missing security questions that you answer at the bank (different choices than what we currently display). Please see this link: http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=2702
5. The customer may be trying to add an account not supported yet (loans), or they are trying to add a bank account under an investment option. While confusing to many customers, all account types have to be added individually on the site (checking/savings, credit card, brokerage/investment, etc.).
If problems continue after doing some troubleshooting, please contact us at feedback@mint.com with the following:
1. Email address of your account.
2. Bank Name/Account type
3. Login URL you use to access your accounts online
4. The specific error message you're receiving trying to add the account.
Important note: Please leave the account active on the Mint site, even if you receive an error message when you re-added it, because we need it active on the site to file a bug. Please re-add it back to the site and leave it there.

Would be nice if I could update or delete my account info from my phone. I'm locked out of my USAA accounts again thanks in part to mint as a result of automatically trying to update multiple accounts and multiple invalid pin attempts before I can update or delete the accounts.
While on my desktop I can't update the information before it attempts to access the account and ofcourse an invalid pin attempt. While on my iPhone I can't update or delete at all any time I zoom in to hit update or delete a large portion of the embedded window disapears...it's there while zoomed out but that small a button I can not push.
I'm going to try and delete the accounts and then get my account unlocked hopefully it'll stop locking down.

I have the same problem. My USAA accounts periodically get locked in Mint. I suspect it's because Mint is logging in twice at the same time - once for my credit card and once for my checking/savings accounts.
Our valued minters,
Thank you for reporting a possible bug with USAA accounts. The information has been rolled up to engineering for resolution.
We will post here for updates.

I am having the same problem the previous posters were having with their USAA accts. I have checked and re-set my security answers. I have double checked my user name, password and access code. All are correct. I have changed the names of all of the accts that were nicknamed. I removed the accts and re-added them. Oh, by the way that eliminated all of the work I had done to start rules and make notes, etc.... That was about 4 hours of work. Darn.
No luck. My acct will update the balance correctly but will not update the transactions.
Any new info on USAA? I would like to utilize Mint but unless I change banks it seems useless for my situation.

Update:
24 hours later USAA is updating. I don't know which step it was that fixed the problem. It might have been removing and re-placing the accounts or double checking the security questions were properly ordered and answered ensuring the same use of capitals and non-caps in the answers. Or maybe USAA just wasnt' transferring for a couple of days?
Last night it would not update and this morning it does.

Just started using mint and I love it but just now discovered the USAA troubles. I just deleted all the accounts and reloaded them which fixed all of those accounts. However, the CC account is not even attempting to load. I just wanted to continue this thread in hopes that it will stay on Mint's radar and get fixed soon.

This is a continuing problem. I'll have to redo all the login information for it to work properly. Sometimes I can go a few weeks, but mostly it's every few days.
I was recommending Mint highly, but this is very annoying.
I was happily using Mint with my USAA credit card for a couple months, until it stopped updating two weeks ago. I have confirmed my login, and tried updating, deleting, and re-adding the account to no avail. I am really disappointed in this. I have submitted help requests to Mint but have not gotten any response.:(

I am having the same problem as many of you. I signed up for Mint about a month ago and everything with USAA worked for the first couple of weeks. Now the USAA Credit Card and HELOC will not work. I emailed USAA customer support about this and here is the reply:
Thank you for your email. USAA does not support the use of aggregate sites that ask for sensitive information other than supported versions
of Quicken and MS Money. USAA strongly encourages USAA members not to provide their sign on information to sites such as mint.com.
We value your business and the opportunity to serve all your financial needs.
Thank you,

I use USAA master card and I've not had any problems. My account has been updating on a regular basis. Every now and then I may need to "fix" the account by entering the username and password with the security questions but then it works okay for several months. I have to this with most of my account every 5-6 months. I assumed it was a security issue either with MINT or my institutions.

Ok, so it works for some people and doesn't work for others. Maybe it is the way each individual has their security settings on the USAA site setup, or something with the browser settings on your personal computer.
Does Mint use your computer to access your individual banks? Or does the mint server log in from a different location? If it is the mint server, than it would seem that it is a personal settings within your USAA account. If it is each persons machine, than it could be that or a browser setting.
I am using an iMac running the most updated version of Safari. I also live in Europe. Any trends with others who are having or not having problems?

Count me as another person with this problem. I have almost all my accounts through USAA, and all of them work except for my credit card. It stopped updating a few days ago and nothing seems to fix it. I even tried deleting the account and adding it back. Now, I'm stuck with no credit card transactions, and I can't get my account back.
Again, my checking, savings, mortgage, etc. all still work through USAA. It's only the credit card that is not working.

I've deleted and re-added accounts. I've triple checked login details--investments and checking/savings work fine, and have the same log in info.
My CC accts @ USAA were updating fine until mid November, then they just stopped.
Following advice in these forums I also tried removing custom account nicknames from the USAA site, but no change.
If I can't track all of my transactions on mint, then it is unusable.

I actually had this problem recently. First I was able to successfully add all my USAA accounts, but then a few days later they stopped updating. Here's what I found that solved the problem for me.
Every once in a while, USAA will ask a security question after it asks for your PIN number when you login to the site (directly, not through mint). If you don't use the exact security questions and answers when you set up the account in mint that you set up in usaa.com, the login will fail when usaa.com decides to ask a security question.
The fix is to make sure your security questions match--I went as far as to make sure they're in the same order. To find your security questions on usaa.com, roll over "My Profile" and click on "Manage Security and Privacy Preferences" in the drop down menu. Your security questions will be listed in the upper right hand corner. Now edit your mint login information for all your USAA accounts to match those exact security questions and answers.
That's what worked for me--hopefully it will solve someone else's problems too.

My USAA accounts also stopped updating about a week ago. I've re-entered security info on both Mint and USAA several times to verify it was all exactly the same, but no joy. Tonight I deleted the USAA accounts from Mint and tried to re-add them, as I'd read that worked for some people, but Mint continues to say "Temporary Issue Connecting" and can't add the accounts. I've been loving Mint, but if I can't connect to USAA, its a no go for me too. Help, Minters!
