After using Mint for a couple days here are some things I would like to see to make it easier to use.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts would be really helpful, like typing 'L' or 'C' with a transaction highlighted would bring up either the label or categorize dialogs.

Categorization

The ability to double click on the category of a transaction to bring up the Categorize dialog would be nice.

Also, on the Categorize dialog, on the top is the checkbox to create a rule to automatically categorize the transaction in the future. The problem is if you change the category the rule doesn't update. It would be nice if when I changed the category of a transaction the Rule updated too that way I could change the category of a transaction as well as set a rule for future transactions without having to bring up the Categorize dialog a second time.

Misc

Some other niceties would be a Rule wizard to create rules without having to select a transaction, and a "Tag Cloud" visualization of the relative frequency of the different tags like Codeplex (as well as a bunch of blogging tools) use.

In addition, having the ability to create a rule to automatically apply a label would be helpful too.

Just my notes on Mint so far. It's an interesting and useful tool that can only get better! Thanks for the hard work!

Thanks! I really like the suggestions in the categorization area.

Keyboard shortcuts and those categorization improvement suggestions would b great. I hate having to select a transaction and scroll all the way to the top of the screen to hit the categorize button.

There's a button at the bottom too :)

I believe a better way to do this is in the works anyway. They're just evaluating some different ways to do it, and then will implement what works best.

Please add another vote for the keyboard shortcuts or inline editing with double-click features. The lack of usability is becoming a show stopper for me. The application depends on properly categorized transactions, but its too much of a pain to fix them right now.

Please fix it soon because I like Mint otherwise.

Double-click editing will be available shortly;) I will be doing a post on Monday or Tuesday about some new features we're rolling out.

How about being able to drag a transaction into a category tag cloud to tag? This would be faster than going through another dialog to assign a category.

A very interesting idea....

I think this is a great idea.

And I might be biased by how GMail has it's short cuts set up, however, I think it would be nice to have:

x to select the current selected item
d to mark (or unmark) as duplicate

Enter to show/hide the "Edit details" panel
n to add a note

(And as mentioned above)
c to category
l for labels

Thanks, it is a great site.

At this point, I would just be happy if mint.com worked as a basic budgeting tool. ING isn't working, Amex is fritzing, the budget "today" line is gone, the budget is in a huge mega font on a page other than the main one, and the budgeting green bars never turn yellow. Really, all I want is the regular, working mint of two months ago to come back.
