Anybody else is having INGDirect sync issues? Tried regularly during the course of today, no luck... :(

I have issues with it almost on a daily basis. Doesn't update and tells me to visit the website to verify information.
Hi Minters,
The major problem that we are encountering regarding the error banks is the security questions mismatched. Always make sure you have same set of security questions, these must be identical with your bank site.
Thank you.

That's why I closed my Mint account and opened an account with Buxfer. Although it's $20/year, it's worth it. There is so much more functionality + iPhone categorization and my accounts don't disconnect and budgets are not missing.
Also, Buxfer doesn't ask for your security questions. Just your login and password.

I am sorry Mint but this is not the reason why on a daily basis ING does not work properly and after a while goes trough again. Several times I have carefully redone my ING settings within Mint but it never fixes things. Seems to me that there is something wrong with your connector to them or at ING's side. It is frustrating since ING is my main bank used for billpay etc.

Ditto. My security questions match. ING just keeps failing. I have to refresh about 3-6 times for it to eventually update.

I submitted a bug report to Mint, hopefully they will respond.

One of the security questions changed on ING's side. The question used to say "In what city was your first job located?" as it is still phrased on the Mint site. On the ING side, the question now says "In what town was your first job?"
I removed this question from ING and Mint (leaving 9 of 10answered). Mint didnt update the info, but it didnt give me the yellow triangle error either. It just says updated "1 day ago"
Out of frustration, I checked out Quicken Online. For ING Direct, they have "ING Direct (unavailable 9a-6p eastern, m-f)." I'm wondering if there may be some kind of limitations imposed on the ING side that could be causing the update errors in Mint.

Now that is interesting... I remember yesterday it was not working during the day yet at night from home all was well. Probably because it was past 6... What a weird thing to have a time limitation like that. I will try again at 06.01PM today and see if it all of a sudden works again. If that is the case you would think that Mint would tell us about it though instead of letting us pull our hairs out the entire day (and I have so little left already).

YEAH! Sync at 5.50PM failed, sync at 6.10PM worked fine... Soooo, it would be good if Mint would get that info to their INGdirect account holders...

Yep, I am also noticing this, ING never syncs between 9-6 but pretty much always works outside of those hours. Why on earth would that be?

I ma having trouble updating ING as well as sharebuilder which is likely very closely tied to ING.
I haven't tried to update after 6 (PST? EST? any ideas?)
It is very frustrating... I wish it would just work.

Like the others here when I tried it after 6pm (pst) it worked like a charm. For both ING and Sharebuilder.
It would be nice to be able to schedule an update in mint. (every day at 11pm for example)

I'm having the exact same issues connecting with ING both here at Mint and over at Yodlee... I've updated my security questions and tried to re-connect, but CONSTANTLY have issues.
What a pain in the a**...

Mint seems to work sporadically with Mint but is never bad for long periods. I will check the after hours suggestion. But out of curiosity, I tried the Buxfer suggestion. I don't like it as much as Mint, but it did sync with ING right away.

I appreciate the service you guys are providing at no cost, but I cannot stand the ING Direct problems anymore.
ING is my primary bank, and I've been having problems getting updates from them through mint since day one. Currently, I'll press try again several times and wait after I log in and it never works. Eventually I'll log in a few days later and see it got an update, but this hassle has been going on for an obscene amount of time and I think it's time for me to move on to another service. :(
The thing is, I'd be willing to pay for a more or less bug free version of your site with some additional features. It's much more preferable to a free and buggy version in my opinion.

I have had only had problems with my ING accounts updating over the past 5 days. ING changed their security questions and they needed to be updated in Mint. I did that for my savings/checking accounts and those are updating.
However, Mint has not changed the security questions on the Loan accounts to match those on ING's site. Until that's done, my loan account will not update.

Another frustrated ING bank customer here. I created a Buxfer account to test right now during the middle of the day and it works flawlessly. What is going on Mint?? ING Direct is one of, if not THE largest online bank of its kind...this should be a priority to get fixed!
And like someone else just mentioned, I too would pay a few $$ a month for some more stable service with some additional features.
If ING works with Buxfer at any time of day so should Mint. When I click update I want it to update then, not later at night

I've encountered similar issues as those posted above. I have ensured my security questions have been updated and had no issues connecting to ING via other providers.
I noticed the "downloading transaction" issue about a month ago. The "Try Again" option resolves the issue with other accounts that this happens with sporadically, but not with ING. As pointed out previously, ING will eventually update, but not till later in the day.
Thanks Mint! Great service!

I've been having troubles with ING direct the last few weeks as well, I was also having the issues with Microsoft Money downloading transactions from them at the same time, so assumed it was on their end.
I called them today to find out more information and was told that ING doesn't support the OFX protocol for these types of pulls anymore, that they ONLY support their web connect download feature for this. The representative implied it had been this way a long time, but I know I did direct connect with MS Money for ages on this just fine.
Are some people able to successfully sync with ING still? Mine's not off again on again, it's flat out stopped for the last 3 weeks. I've verified the security question/answers 4 times now, i'm positive it is not that.

:cool:first off, how stupid to have to re-register for the mint forum. that said, ING direct seems to block out updating for any kind of financial software between the hours of 9a-6p EST, not sure why, but who cares, just knowing this took a load off of my mind, hopefully it will do the same for anyone else having issues.

I'm not sure if this is the problem but the challenge questions for Mint and ING do not match up for me.

The question that's on the ING site that is not on the Mint site is:
What is the middle name of your oldest brother?
This question is stopping me from registering my ING account. Does ING rotate their challenge questions for security and that's the problem?

I'm sorry, but this is just plain false.
I just logged into my mint account and could not get my ING Direct account to update. To test your theory I then opened an account at Wesabe and added my ING Direct account. It added and updated flawlessly with transactions from today. This was as of about 5 minutes ago, so it's clearly in your "9a-6p EST" window. I do agree that it seems Mint is getting my ING updates overnight, but that does not apply to all financial software, and only being able to pull updates in the off hours is very...lame.
Mint has a problem with ING Direct that needs to be fixed. I just don't want to see the blame shifted, because this is something they need to look into. It's certainly possible that ING has some sort of special exclusion for Mint because they were getting hammered or something, but at the end of the day this is a breakdown in communication between Mint and ING.

Mint, you better get your act together. This is bad publicity and showing such poor response/service does not go unnoticed. There are companies out there putting their game together and would LOVE a chance to show what real customer service looks like...

I have checked all the info including account number, pin and all questions. I managed to get 5 questions that matched set up for both ING and Mint, and have entered them twice now. However, I still cannot update anything at all today. Mint.....any new suggestions?

Maybe the 9am-6pm thing is just for certain people. Previously, I couldn't log in for the life of me when I tried between the 9am-6pm window. Then, I read on someone else's post about that 9am-6pm, I tried to connect the ING account around 7pm one night and it worked like a charm. Since then, I've only been able to update my ING account outside of 9am-6pm Eastern time.
However, now I can't seem to update any account - separate issue though I guess

Would a Mint employee care to comment? I prefer everything with Mint over other financial web sites such as Buxfer and Rudder, but none of the others have this issue and if it cannot get fixed soon I may end up switching to Buxfer where it works with ING Direct always, even during business hours.
Update PLEASE. Don't ignore your customers Mint.

I probably was a bit unclear. I don't doubt that Mint has a problem pulling ING updates during the day.
I was responding to someone saying that this is true for every financial management service pulling from ING, which is not true.

Hello Zachary,
I understand that you recently had an issue trying to connect to our website using mint.com. This service is commonly referred to as an account aggregator. While this service may have worked in the past, most users are finding that their aggregator does not work with our New Sign In Process.

I would argue that it's my personal information/funds, so if I want an aggregator to have the access information, why not. I hope ING's not making it especially difficult for Mint to connect, though I understand if you're not actively working to facilitate the process.
I just opened a savings account with ING, but if you're going out of your way to make things complicated for other services I use, when no other bank does....
This worked for me today at 5:30pm central time. (Helped doing both in 2 different browser tabs at the same time)
1) Login to ING Direct as usual.
2) Within your ING Direct account click 'My Info' then 'Login Options Edit Information'.
3) Update your security questions and answers. (BE SURE TO CLICK 'CHANGE' WHEN DONE.)
4) Delete your ING Direct account on Mint.com
5) Create a new ING Direct account on Mint.com
6) Re-enter your ING Direct account information on Mint.com. Especially make sure ALL of your security questions are exactly like that on your ING Direct 'Login Options' 'Security Questions' section.
Worked like a champ for me. I hope this helps.

I have not been able to load any information regarding my ING Accounts (12 total) for over 2 weeks now. It's a real shame. They finally resolved a 9 day spell of not being able to load another banks accounts.
MINT folks, any update? Interesting that ING has been able to get back to your customers about your issue in a more timely fashion..

Same problem here! I have finally been able to get my bank supported by Mint after about 1 year of trying. WOW. Now, with hopes all was well, I tried to add ING and wouldn't ya know it *poop* it didn't work. I guess I'll keep waiting until it's supported and then breaks again because "it's no longer supported". When that happens off I go to another provider. To bad really. Perhaps they should spend less time with their style crew and more time with their functionality / reliability.
See, it's one thing if the company is trying and starting up, or if the site was "beta". But they've had write ups in magazines and had received lots of investment dollars to make this work. Even if it was declared as "Master Beta" before final release. Just don't publish this as a finalized product when it clearly has bugs with connectivity.

Strange, ING works fine for me every morning, and then doesn't work in the late afternoon.
Mint also labels it as "ING Direct - Bank (Unavailable)" even when it works.

I've had these issues occasionally but they've mostly been due to ING's servers not responding. For example, right now (10:45AM EST) I cannot log in via ING Direct's home page! I click on "View my accounts" and eventually get a time out loading the login page.
Mint seems to encounter the same availability issues when dealing with ING... just pointing this out to make sure you're not seeing an availability issue instead of a password/login issue.

ING itself has said they don't support aggregators. This is true across the board. There's a difference between something 'working' and something being supported. I just chatted with an ING representative over the phone. He made it clear that ING will do it's best to not allow other services from automatically accessing information from their website.
This isn't just a Mint problem, it is an ING 'solution.' That is, ING is 'protecting you' by constantly changing their site so aggregators can't access it.
