The below issue has been resolved since early April 2009. If you are having a problem with a Citibank account type it is not related to this issue. You may want to file your issue directly with our Customer Service Team so we can get your specific Citibank issue resolved as soon as possible.

I logged into my Citibank Account directly at citibank.com and it did not ask for any updates on PIN, account number, etc. But I am still having a problem with getting my account information from Mint.com for my Citibank account. Do you have another suggested solution?
Thank you.

no it didn't work.
when i logged in my citibank.com, nothing has been changed. i was not asked for anything other than username and password.
but mint.com asks for username, password and pin. i am 100% sure my username, password and pin are correct. but it still gives me error.

My Citibank accounts still aren't synching, either. I started getting the "Your bank needs you" message this weekend, and I have logged in to my Citi account several times to see if they are requesting additional information, but there are no messages, alerts, or action items.

I guess this is exactly what happens to most of us. no change on citibank.com at all from what i can see

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your info. We'll check the cause of the error. While we are doing the troubleshooting please remain the account attached though with error and We'll post back once we have something to share.

I had the same experience. The only additional thing I found is that on the Citibank web site, customer service section, there is now a "change security options" setting which allows one to select whether the site asks for PIN number at each sign-on. However, I have tried both settings and Mint fails to connect either way. But this does confirm that Citi has made changes in the security area.
It is still not working for me either. I logged onto citibank several times and it did not ask me to update any information. I deleted and re-added my citibank on mint and still keep getting an error.

I was experiencing the same problems previously reported on this thread. I tried deleteing the accounts and reinserting them and that also did not work. Worse, now, I cannot even register the accounts. Any idea to when this will be resolved and will I have to recategorize all my transactions when Citibank becomes available once again?

Same here: Citibank does not ask me any additional information after logging on, nothing changed at their end as far as I can tell. I also tried to change my citi userID and password, update my account profile in mint. No luck...:(

None of my citibank checking, savings or credit card accounts are updating. I have the correct account info but I get the mint message "Your bank needs you." When I login to the citi site, it is not requesting any information. My citimortgage.com account is still updating successfully in mint.
Thanks.

Same problem here. Seeing transactions dated december 2009. Also, I am noticing that the description for most of my transactions are 'other decrease'. Previously, Mint was able to look at the memo field on the transactions and categorize them appropriately. Now most of my transactions are 'other decrease' and uncategorized. This will be a very big pain, unless mint honors the memo information and categorize them

Big problems here too. All of my accounts have duplicated. Accounts which were previously hidden have been recreated (with the originals presumable still hidden, although I haven't checked this). The original accounts have not updated with new transactions. The new, duplicate accounts have updated, but only downloaded minimal details from the first line of the transaction detail - for example "PIN MAR" - with no details of the address of the merchant from the second line. Thanks for working on this Mint team.

...same here. No news. A significant amount of Citi transactions are showing as dupes and other decrease. Yodlee still does not work either for Citi, my CDs are on 0 balance there also.
So, citibank accounts started syncing again - but:
1. I had two accounts for each actual account, and had to delete the account to get it back with just one of each.
2. Virtually all of the transactions are now "uncategorized", and the transaction details don't show anything except "debit pin purchase". It all worked so well before - is this mint's deal or citibank's deal?
3. I also have some transactions marked for dec 29, 2009. wtf?
What a total pain in the butt.

I also had a problem with duplicate accounts showing up, incorrect balances displayed and all payee details deleted.
Deleting my citibank account on mint and re-registering it worked, although I exported all of my transactions first to keep track of splits and other information I had entered manually.
Mint now grabs citibank transactions as it used to, except that there's a gap in the transactions. All transactions between March 13th (my last update before the trouble started?) and March 16th do not appear in mint. They post on citibank.com and the balance on mint is correct, but those transactions are just missing.

Len,
Did you mean to post the URL to this thread in this thread? Or is there somewhere else we should be checking for updates on the Citi snafu? Is there any ETA for resolution of the issue? Or at least any prediction of what the outcome will be? Can Mint users expect to see their data restored at some point, or will we have to start over from scratch?
Lots of questions I'm sure other users share as well. Is there a status page we can to verify status? If not, how about starting a general "status" page where we can keep track of open issues.
Check out the level of transparency Google and Salesforce.com provide:

I work in the IT dept of a multinational bank and heard about a similar situation. We had made some changes to our backend system which handled login security and profile access. Post-implementation, we started getting calls from customers who were using MS Money to download their bank account details. We had to fix it within a day to stop getting bad comments from our dear customers
This definitely seems to be an issue at Citi's end. They better do something about it. Same errors are being encountered by those using Bank of America My Portfolio.

Bank of America My Portfolio and Mint use the same external provider at the backend... Probably a good thing since there will be more pressure on Citi to cooperate in getting rid of the issue.

I deleted my citibank account on mint and added it again today. That got rid of the duplicate entries. However, the dec 2009 transactions and categorization are still messed up. Both of these issues look like mint related. Yodlee seems to have my transactions correctly listed and categorized. Since mint uses Yodlee, I am leaning towards believing this to be a mint related issue. Hey Mint.com, we need an ETA?

After adding the citibank account how much history did you get back? I don't want to delete and then when creating a new account only get like 30 days worth of history and lose all history from last year. For now I am leaving mine as is hoping mint will solve this issue by itself.

If you delete your citibank account and re add it (as I did) you will only get 30 days of history back and you will lose all of your manually entered data (splits and the like). I'm also missing a few days of transactions altogether (everything between march 13th and 16th).
Splits have to be re-entered. I exported all my messed up transactions to excel, deleted citibank, readded it and then went through the excel sheet by transaction date and reconstructed the last month. All in all, it was not a very pleasant experience and I've lost all of my history and cannot track my budget.

This is to inform that we are currently experiencing issues with the Citibank Banking site. It appears Citibank has made some changes to their site.
On the Citibank site, users may be prompted to enter certain details like Pin number, account number and card number post login. If users are not prompted, there are new options in the "change security options" of the Citibank site.
As a result of this users will see an 'Update Information' exception or connection error when they attempt to refresh their Citibank Bank accounts on Mint.com.
** We are working to resolve this issue. This is effecting all Citibank banking users so there is no need to contact Mint Customer Support on the matter at this time. Thanks for your patience. **
Please do not delete your account or manually remove duplicates at this time. Our fix will automatically restore your account so please be patient while we resolve this. If you delete your Citibank account from Mint and add it back again you will lose historical transaction data beyond the past 30 days.
Just posting this further along in the thread. We are updating the first post regularly with updates. Thanks!

I just wanted to add my voice to this. My Citi checking/savings account is adding new info, but it is pulling transactions (I think they are real transactions) between Nov 12, 2008 and December 24, 2008 and putting them at the top like they are recent transactions. Even stranger, it is just doing it for my savings account. The balance looks correct for those accounts. It's very weird all around.

Thanks for the continued patience. We've fixed most of the issue but have some cleanup work to do and we're actively doing this now. You may still see some issues until we've completed the cleanup. Same issue here -- one of three Citi checking accounts has been duplicated, wtih the original no longer updating. For what it's worth, I've been using both Mint and Yodlee for a few months, so I have a comparison. The same Citi account at Yodlee had a similar problem, except that Yodlee deleted the original account altogether. So instead of duplicate entries, my account was replaced with only 30 days of data and no categorization. Removing the duplicate account at Mint should be easier than recreating the missing account at Yodlee. We shall see.

I have not been able to update my Citibank checking with sweep account since March 13, and everyday that I log into Mint to check, transactions that had downloaded previously are disappearing. i was having a lot of issues too.
I have a checking savings money market and credit card with citi.
There was duplicates, out of order transactions, i mean all was screwed.
it seems that everything went back to normal last night.
however there was a quick hiccup.
after clicking on the feb transaction, it seemed that everything was fine.
I decided to sort by price to make sure but then all duplicate showed up again. I resorted by date, everything disappeared and went back to normal. I was a bit surprised. I decided to resort again by price, and then, no more duplicates.
It is a little bit weird, but now, everything is back to normal.
I can access my account, no duplicate.
hope that helps

I'm still having issues.
I have three accounts with Citibank: CD, savings, and checking. All three still show duplicate accounts, but new transactions do not appear in the duplicate accounts. Original accounts appear to be updating properly.
So basically if I could just get rid of the duplicate accounts, I'd be set.

My Citibank Checking account is duplicated. One of them shows an incorrect balance, while the other one shows the correct balance. The one with correct balance only has transaction history from January and does not have correct categories and tags. The one with the incorrect balance has all my transaction history with correct tags.
The one with the correct balance (which I'm calling the Duplicate because it doesn't have the account nickname I gave the original) contains duplicate entries until Feb. However starting on Feb 13 it has some duplicate entries and some entries that didn't get recorded in the original account.
So for instance, on Feb 13th, there was two transactions. One of them was recorded in both accounts and the second was only recorded in the duplicate account. I'm assuming this is why the original account's balance is off.
The original account then stopped updating completely from March 13th, so all transactions after that are only included in the duplicate account.
Basically I need the duplicate account merged with the original account and then purged of duplicate transactions. Or alternatively, just grab the transactions that are in the duplicate account, but not in the original and move them over to the original account deleting the duplicate account after.

I have two Citibank accounts: Mastercard and Checking with Sweep. The MC account is doing fine. Sweep is the problem.
1) problems logging in
It is always on the "yellow triangle--temporary issue!" mode now. I try to "fix it" and it goes to "establishing secure connection" but never actually gets connected and just pops back to the "yellow triangle--temporary issue!" mode.
2) not updating
Since 3/13, the account has not updated. Now, I notice that the majority of my early March transactions that had been updated to Mint have disappeared. Mint tells me that the account was last updated 1 day ago but that's a lie! A LIE!
3) incorrect balance
What is the ETA on getting this fixed?
Up until this whole Citibank fiasco, pending transactions would carry over into mint almost immediately. Now, over the last week, I've been seeing the account balance get updated in a timely way, but transactions don't show up in mint until literally 4-5 days after they've appeared in my account on the Citibank site. I have to say my confidence in mint as a tool is beginning to slip, and because of this latency issue I no longer feel like I'm getting a good view of my activity.

I know it's hard to push the mint guys because it's a free product but from my side it looks quite simple to fix it.
I have basically a new set of my citi accounts (checking & savings) in mint. the new accounts have transactions from the last 30 days (most of them uncategorised). I can't just hide the newly added accounts because the old ones are not synced anymore. If I hide the old ones I loose all my old transactions (30 days +) as well as the categorisation work.
So the fix is simple: sync the transactions from the old accounts with the ones from the new accounts. delete old accounts + transactions.
Why does this takes you so long?

Although the balance is updating correctly I still have duplicate transactions in a few citi accounts. The duplicate transactions all have incorrect dates. They have dates of june, july, sept, oct, nov and dec of '09 -- so they all appear at the top of my transaction list becasue the dates are all in the future. The biggest problems (not updating at all, disappearing transactions, and incorrect balance) have been fixed but now there is a new problem. Pending transactions are not showing upon Mint, even though they are taken into account for the balance.
What I have been doing to track non-posted transactions is to create a "loan" entry in the "property" section (sorry if my terminology is inaccurate here because I am new to Mint) for each unposted transaction. Then, when it posts and appears on Mint, I delete that loan entry. That way, I get a clear picture of how much money I actually have.
But, with the pending transactions not appearing on Mint, I am doubling up on how much I owe with the "loan" entries. I guess I can log onto the Citi site and see which ones are pending and which have not been posted at all, but isn't the whole point of having Mint is so that I won't have to log onto the bank sites?

Not to sound pushy or whiny, but I figured I'd mention that my problems described a few days ago still persist. My account balances seem to be fine, and my new transactions seem to be posting regularly, but I still have three duplicate accounts (which don't update).
I could simply mark them as "hidden" in account options, but I'd prefer to have them gone completely if possible. I already have a few dummy accounts that were added via "duplicator bugs" in the past that I just patched up by marking as "hidden." (Several months ago, my Paypal account was duplicating itself every time I refreshed. I still have four copies logged in Mint, and my transactions are spread across two of them. So I have one marked as closed, two as hidden, and one as active. I also have a dummy Citi Credit Card from a couple of months ago when Citi issued me a new card number and Mint thought it was an additonal credit card. That's just marked as hidden.) But I'd really like to just have these gone if possible.

Still having problems...
What seems to be fixed:
1) Transactions that appeared to come from the future are no longer appearing
2) New transactions appear to only be posted to ONE of the duplicated accounts (presumably the correct one), not both
What still remains to be fixed:
1) All citi accounts are still duplicating (Checking, Savings, and Credit Card are each showing up twice)
2) Historical transactions from those accounts are still posting on the site.
Question: Is there a point where we can delete the duplicated account that appears to be behaving badly? It looks as though one of each of the duplicated accounts is now the correct one and can be retained, while the other can be discarded.
Hi Minters,
We're still investigating this issue. We will post here for any updates.

Since the Citibank problems started, the connection to my Citi CC account was failing. After setting up a new test account under a different email address, and seeing that the account was able to connect and update successfully, I tried editing the Citi info on my existing account. I re-entered my (unchanged) login/password info, and it started working for me. I still had all of my historical transactions, although some of my recent ones "forgot" the edits (category, label, etc.) that I'd made to them previously. I hope this helps if anyone else is stuck with their account just not connecting.

Jeffery -- I was really excited about your solution because I haven't been able to connect to my Citi card at all for a month so I created a new account, tried to upload my Citi card but... I can't connect there either!
Dear Mint Team -- I've already submitted an official customer service form (they directed me to this thread). Unlike most everyone else here, I'm not getting duplicated transactions but rather can't connect to Citi AT ALL. I don't have a Citi bank account but a credit card -- would that be the difference?
Thanks again for your help! I love Mint and have been finding users faster than I can say "money management heaven"!

Hi cwolfram,
The issue about Citibank is with the Banking site only. If you have a Citibank credit card, please try to add it. Just make sure you have same set of security questions, these must be identical with your bank site.

Hi sirfabel,
Duplicate transactions and future dated transactions have been resolved for Citibank Bank since last week. Are you still having a problem with duplicate accounts?
gmitra
04-02-2009, 07:50 PM
I'm still having the exact same issues. Nothing has been resolved or addressed. What's the status update on this?

I am also still having the same issues. Both my husband and I each have 1 citibank card but it is showing 7 total under accounts (2 for me, 2 for him, and 3 that just say citibank with $0 balance).
For my accounts the first one has all my history from 8/18/07 to 1/29/09 and the second one has everything from 12/17/08 which means some charges are duplicated.
For my husband's accounts the first one has all his history from 8/29/07 to 1/27/09 and the second one has everything from 12/26/08 so some of his charges are also duplicated.

I am not getting dupes anymore but the ones that I did get are still there. What happened to the ability to delete transactions (remove from mint?)
The dates on the duplicates are mostly from the future because for some reason 2008 got changed to 2009 so they are dupes of 2008 transactions.
Since they are listed in the future they sit at the top and its very annoying.

The duplicate issue seems to have mostly resolved itself, but in one case where I have a rename/recategorize rule applied to a particular payment, it still duplicates itself.
A payment that was posted on March 29th, 2009 shows up twice: Once as "Bill A" and again as the renamed payment.
This is out of a Citibank Checking account.

I still have a duplicate accounts, but I have a question. If I go ahead and mark my duplicate accounts as "Hidden," will this interfere with any potential fix that Mint might implement in order to completely delete the duplicate accounts? I now have duplicate transactions from April 6th. Within the last couple of days I signed on to Citibank Online and masked my account numbers so only the last 3 digits would show. So it appears fruggle is now seeing it as a different account number. I was hoping that my April numbers would be correct since March has all the duplicates now it looks like both April and March are going to be incorrect.

Seriously mint? Seriously? It's been nearly a month now. Your service is pretty much useless if my main checking account isn't updating and listing transactions properly. I second this question.
I'm still seeing duplicate accounts. If I had the duplicates that are not updating correctly, will that mess up things when you finally get around to fixing the problem? As it is, it's virtually impossible to use Mint anymore. If I hide the accounts that might be a quick fix, but I'm afraid of screwing it up even worse. Can you give us some feedback here? I still see a very long delay when transactions post on Mint. Mint/Stephen,
I can't remember what "Apr 07 Debit" for $26.73 is anymore because this (or something like this) just showed up today (Apr. 23). What is the status of shortening the length of time between when transactions show up on the Citibank site and when they show up on Mint? When I started using Mint (in late February), ALL the transactions that showed up on the Citibank site also showed upon Mint, regardless of whether they were pending or what. Now, it takes DAYS for the transactions to show up, by which time I have forgotten what the transaction was for and cannot properly categorize anymore. Please fix this.
Thanks,

The problem is pending transactions are no longer showing up. That is why it takes so long, and needs to be fixed.
I hate the lack of info transactions have, like your apr 07 debit, especially since it seems like pending/preauth transactions have more info that gets lost. i think that shows up the same on citibanks site so its citibanks issue.

My account was last updated by Mint a month ago. What I have found is that the generic www.citibank.com website is no longer used for access to all their credit cards... you now actually have to go to the specific url listed for that type of account (found on the back of the credit card). For example, the CitiBank Shell Mastercard url is: www.shellmc.accountonline.com
Seems to me like Mint would just need to update the listed urls for each type of account/credit card that CitiBank services and the problem would be solved... or perhaps I'm missing something (which is certainly a possiblity) :D

This is getting ridiculous. My Citibank transactions haven't been imported since March 5, though my balances are correct (if I ignore the MANY duplicates...and by the way, the duplicates aren't getting the transactions either).
I'm about to start searching for a new service. I hate to lose the simplicity and history with Mint, but none of the graphs are accurate for me at all b/c it's been missing the primary source of my income transactions. According to Mint, I'm in the red every month, when my total net worth clearly reflects upward movement (because it's getting balances but not income transactions).

FYI, I had to solve this on my own since Mint customer service does not appear to exist. My problem was that my checking account was cloned in Mint, so I had 2 copies of it (throwing off my balances), and the new "clone" didn't have the balance update. So I was stuck with this static value account for Citibank.
I ended up deleting that Citibank account completely from Mint, and re-added it. When it reloaded from Citibank, the cloned account did not appear. So if you're having a similar problem, you may want to delete your account and try again.

So I posted here last week about having the same problem - and somehow it's been fixed!
I just wanted to recap what happened if anyone else is still having issues:
1) Put in a bug report at Mint.com
2) Got an email back asking if it was a new account, I explained that no, I had opened it in October 2008 and it had just stopped working.
3) I logged in today and saw all my transactions had updated
BUT
4) They were in pure transaction form, not renamed or categorized.
5) So I went to the dreaded duplicate CitiBank Account with a zero balanca under the "Your Accounts" tab, and set its status to "Closed".
6) Voila! The transactions were updated (although I don't know if that had anything to do with #5 or if it was just that it takes time to update the transactions in Mint.)
Anyway, hooray!

There have not been any widespread issues with Citibank since March. If you are experiencing a problem, submit your issue using our Contact Us form so we can escalate and work to resolve. Also, we have no fewer than 8 Citibank account types so please specify which kind of Citibank accounts are causing you update problems.

As an update, I randomly decided to add this account again and lo-and-behold it retrieved all of my data while the old account sat there with a yield sign. I even triple, no, quadruple checked my login and password. It's only mildly annoying because I was able to "close" my old Citicards account and keep all my data while flagging all of the historical data it found for the "new" account as duplicate.
Anyway, I don't know what's going on up there at Mint headquarters, but this is fishy.

This seems to be affecting all Citi affinity cards as well. We have threads about this here (http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=8254) and here (http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?p=38242).
All affinity cards must now be accessed through accountonline.com, which I believe to be the likely culprit. Unfortunately, none of us affected have received any update from Mint on the situation, either in response to Contact Forms or Forum Posts. And it's been over a month now.

After contacting mint 3 times to try to fix duplicate accounts that were overlapping in dates (throwing all our data off), I received this response
"This isn't about hiding accounts, its about duplicates that have different (and overlapping) date ranges.
Our apology for the inconvenience but based on our engineering and from our third party provider we can not fix such issue."
I've deleted all the duplicate accounts etc. and now no duplicate accounts but all our data from 2007 are also gone. Thanks mint, we have to start all over.

Hi,
I've been having problems updating my Citibank accounts.
I contacted customer support and they suggested that I manually update the accounts, but I couldn't because they had a big 'fix it' button instead of an 'update' button.
They told me to try and fix my information (even though I had mentioned that neither my username/password) had changed.
I logged into the websites successfully and went to change my security questions thinking that I could re-sync my security questions with mint.com... just in case.
The set of security questions between mint.com and Citibank.com are not the same. Thus, there's probably no way to get our accounts to update without a patch from mint.com

I contacted customer support last month and they told me that they were working on the problem. Well, nothing has changed and I see that they don't monitor their forums to provide an update.
Citibank did not change my security questions - everything is the same - i have not had an update to my transactions since August 10th.
Has anyone use Wesabe? I am considering a switch. . . this is just bad bad bad support!

Still no transactions from Citibank, and no communication from Mint.
Remind me why I use this site again?

Im starting to wonder too. I guess now that Intuit bought them they will just let Mint go to shits and force everyone to goto quicken online instead. At least that one works.
I haven't gotten a single transaction from any citi card since Aug 5.. although the balance is correct.

I have been having Citibank transaction problems since August 10th and I have contacted Mint.com three times using their 'contact form'. I really would like to get this fixed so I dont have to go to another site like Wesabe.
Please let me know how or what to do to fix this. I have tried everything people have suggested in this thread and have found no solutions. My transactions just don't appear. HELP ME WITH THIS PLEASE!! Thanks!!

More of the same.
Mint shows Citi card's proper balance... but is 20 days behind in showing transaction. ACK!
Just adding fuel to the bonfire.

After burning several hours trying to import my citibusiness account info into Mint.com I took a few months off. It seems like not much has changed. What say you Mint? Any easy solutions for us?

I'm having the same issues expressed here about Citibank accounts. I have 3 credit accounts that show an up-to-date balance but they are missing transactions since August 21st.
Mint....what gives????????
Please fix. Your service is great, except for when it doesn't work! Citibank is a huge financial institution and I would hope that this issue is a big priority.

Citibank/Associated Bank cobranded credit cards (also known as affinity cards) have not worked since before August as well. I keep contacting support and they say it's being worked on... and I was pointed here (after several months). I don't know that this is even the right place... but I haven't had transactions or balance for several, several months. Please, Mint, fix this.
