View Full Version : Incorrect "price paid" calcuation for ESPP and stock options

I have stock option and ESPP accounts with Etrade. When I added the accounts to my mint.com account the calculation for price paid was based on the market value on the day of adding the account rather than the actual value.

Can you please let me know how to fix this?

You can manually change all your transactions.

If your ESPP account shows up like mine, then there are no transactions but if you expand the account in the left panel of the Investments tab... you can select each stock purchase. When you click on the "position" in the left panel the middle panel will change and you will have the option of changing the total price paid (anything with the underlined blue can be modified).

Anyways, that'll get you most of the way there. There are still bad calculations in the Investments tab.
I have some stock with a negative balance. Apparently someone paid me to take stock in their company as part of my managed 401k, can't change that price for some reason. Makes my 401k look like it's unaffected by the economy returning 40%+ instead of -40%.

Also the price paid column doesn't always add up all your ESPP purchases. My total price paid leaves out a couple of periods but the market value counts every purchase. As a result my percentage returned is positive when it should read negative.

I have "open" tickets out for a multitude of crippling functional problems with the investments tab. The official word on the forums is "We're working on it" but my tickets are inactive. I have had no updates and any attempts of re-establishing communication on my issues have come to a dead-end. Mint is not seriously addressing the investment issues. If they were I would expect a much more active response on their part and an attempt to keep people who report bugs in the loop so they don't go on the forums and discourage other members that their pleas for help are futile.
