I would like to see the ability to do budgeting, reports of actual spending vs. budget, and the ability to do cash flow projections based on budget and actual spending.

I second that. I also need to be able to enter planned expenditures and bills (in exact dollar amounts) over the next 12 months and see how that impacts my cash flow.

Does the process outlined in this thread (http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=669) do what you need? or are you looking for more advanced budgeting?

ive already used that to set budgets at the individual category level, is there a way to set an overall budget?
ie i have my two monthly paychecks, and thats a certain amount. adding an additional overall budget at the bottom row with income vs expenditures. it would be even better if you could specify which sources of income count towards this monthly total, because some of my investment income is varied in its return and i cannot count on that amount of money coming in.
if you added percentage sections to the overall amount with each individual section then overages in one budget area would visibly effect the others and it would make estimations with overspending in one area being made up with cutbacks in another.
|-------------------------$1000-------------------------|
|-----Rent-----|--Auto--|-En-|--Other--|
$700 of $1000 spent month to date (30% under budget)
5 Days left in the month
that would be hot like tabasco sauce
as the previous commenter suggested, adding potential expenditures and projecting that across 6 months or a year would be awesome.

an overall budget with some features to go with it would be a big improvement to the budgeting feature.
Also, how exactly does it come up with the 5 preset budgets? does it just give everyone the same arbitrary numbers? Maybe some questions like how far do you drive to work etc would be helpful. A budgeting wizard of sorts that creates custom budgets based on a few different factors

The preset categories we have are the five largest areas of discretionary spending for consumers & that's why we have them there. We will, of course, be creating additional budgeting feature tweaks down the road (first iteration of a basic budgeting product).
