When I try to add my Zions Bank account I get asked what is the user name, the password, and then I am asked 3 security questions. The problem is the security questions are drop down so I has me choose which security question. When I log into the Zion bank, all I have to do is type in my username. Then I am taken to a site with a picture and phrase. I type in my password and I am logged in. I don't know what these questions mint asks me are for.

I don't know about Zions, but many other banks have both security questions and the picture/passphrase. You normaly see the questions only when you sign on from a new computer or forget your password.

For example, when I signed into my Bank of America account on my new laptop for the first time, First I put in my user name, then it asks one of my security questions, and tells me that this is the first time I have signed into BofA with that computer. It has a check box where I can all my laptop to my profile so the questions don't come up again. After that I get the picture and passphrase and put in my password. If I check the box on the previous screen, I will never see the question again unless I use the forgoten password feature or sign on to a new computer. Instead I will go directly to the picture/passphrase page.

As for why mint needs your questions? Probably the same reason you need to remember your answers. It is part of how they access your account. :D

We're working on a change to the UI for this. I will post an update in the "Mint Announcements" area when I know it has been resolved.

Cool thanks.

As for the other comment. The problem is not that I don't know the answers to the questions, I don't remember which questions I chose. I am given a drop down menu to chose the question that I want.

I can understand that. :D I know that each time I sign up for a new service (throught my bank or yodlee or mint or such) and add accounts that have the questions (many of my accounts do) I have to go to the site and look up which questions I have chosen.

I can see how it can be a pain, but at least it is only once per account per service. To bad there isn't any way to update the questions in the account agragators if/when you change your security questions. :o

You can probably see the questions & answers by logging in to your bank directly.

Hi jquaseba,

We're having some issues with Chase right now & we're looking to resolve. I will post in the "Mint Announcements" area when I know it is fixed.

It appears now you can't even select or view the questions. Zions bank is now simply a username/password. This needs to be fixed if I am to add my accounts. ;)
