Budgeting is very weak.
In fact, it is the one thing that keeps me from using the product exclusively.
Better, more advanced, and detailed Budgeting. I think this should be a tab of its own with functions like:
1)
Monthly comparison and viewing or adding of carryover - For example: My Monthly budget includes "Vacation" - I don't go on vacation every month, but, I do save for this every month. But I do not consider this part of savings, since savings is for future or emergency. The Vacation portion of the budget it there specifically to be spent on vacations. So I want to see that this money is budgeted, and might not be spent month to month. So over time, I see that the category grows an excess. Over time, this money (which is placed into the Saving account and withdrawn when needed) becomes larger in the positive (ie – Each month has a budget of $50 – So in June, there is an excess, $300) So when the yearly, or monthly comparison is done, this shows the amount.)
The same applies for things like entertainment – let’s say I budget $50/month. But some months I use 30 and others 70. I want to see that displayed
Another Example – Hygiene supplies. I budget monthly, but don’t purchase monthly. Some months more gets spent than the budget, other less. So maybe have a system similar to the CC transfer accounts. Allow shifting of funds from one budget category to another. If the car breaks down, then money from Entertainment and Vacations might get transferred over.
2)
Detail! I don’t want to just track a broad category. I want to track “Movie and Video” not just Entertainment that it is part of. I want to track “Prescriptions” – “Doctor” – “OTC Medicine” Not Personal Health – The more detailed your budget, the easier it is to truly plan.
3)
Compare the Budgets to averages in the same area. This would just be nice. Seeing that you budget significantly more for a particular items helps show issues.
4)
Savings. Savings should be a budget item. It should look at your savings accounts and see if you truly saved that much.
