I am one of those people who the more I make, the more I spend - only I have no idea really where it all goes.
I tried carrying around a pad to track down every expense - couldn't do it.
I tried buying Quicken, but faced too many roadblocks setting it up, so gave up on that.
And then a few weeks ago I stumbled onto Mint.com. Within 2 days, I had set up my checking account, my American Express account, my retirement investments and my mortgage/home equity.
Within four days, I knew pretty much to within a few hundred dollars exactly how I was spending my money (and how my husband was spending his).
Within a week, I had set up a realistic budget for the month, and started creating custom categories to really get a handle on where my money is going.
Just today, I remembered to pay my Amex bill because Mint reminded me it's coming due and I knew that the money was in my account.
And the most unbelievable, blow-my-mind part about all of this? No, not that its' free (which I love), but that I'm having FUN doing all of this!!
Who knew that keeping track of my money could be so enjoyable?
Thanks, Mint.com!!!
