View Full Version : Treasury Direct lockout

Mint's attempts to log in to my Treasury Direct account (at treasurydirect.gov) apparently caused the Treasury to lock the account, and I needed to spend some time on the phone convincing them to unlock it. When I explained that I was using aggregation software, they suggested such systems may be an illegal circumvention of their system. I doubt that, but clearly something is going wrong.

The Mint setup is necessarily very difficult, because it requires typing in dozens of numbers from the ridiculous Access Card that Treasury thinks gives them better security. After I did this, it worked fine for a few days, and then crashed my account.

Has anyone had sustained success with Treasury Direct?

Note: I originally posted this to the "General Discussion" section of the forum, but this appears to be a better fit.

I just had my fiancee's TreasuryDirect account locked out because of Mint. My other TreasuryDirect account which has been empty for a while has not had any problems interestingly enough.

Not sure why they can say anything about using an aggregation service like Mint when it the US Dept of Education accounts have worked just fine and don't throw a hissy fit.

TreasuryDirect is just frustrating.

same here...cannot Mint figure out a way to count these assets without actually updating them electronically?
Could I do that manually so that the infrequent interest accrual would be included?
