View Full Version : Removing Custom Made Name of Transaction

Hey Guys,

I edited one of my transactions and renamed it to something custom but then I wanted to actually change it back to what mint would have defaulted it to. But I couldn't do it. I think the best way to implement that is if the user deletes the name of the transaction, it should go back to Mint's default name. Thanks!

I disagree with this. If the transaction name is deleted, it should default back to the raw data.

Is this with changing a name, or is it with changing the transaction categorization? I've had no issues doing so from a test that I did a few days ago.

I think he means... (by example)

Mint defaulted some of mine to "Starbucks"

I can change them to "Starbucks on Boylston"

but then if I want to change it back whatever mint defaulted to ("Starbucks" in this case) I'd have to remember it.

He's suggesting that renaming to "" (blank) should default back to the original default name.

Right now renaming to "" just leaves it as it is.

So if I renamed "Starbucks on Boylston" to "" it would stay as "Starbucks on Boylston" instead of defaulting back to "Starbucks"

hopefully that's what he meant... and hopefully I was clear

note: I use "he" because I can't tell by the name... and I had to pick either he or she and just went with one

I think that it isn't necessarily a good idea to default back to mint's original, as the reason you change it usually is because mint is not right. If it got it right the first time, you'd probably leave it.

I'd default it to the raw data coming in (or might be getting to feature/option overload with this one) have an option to either default back to mint's default, or to the raw data, or to just not change it (which is the current setting)
