Dear Folks,
I can't figure out how to do these two things, and if it is impossible, I'll have to give up and use another program. So this is important:
1. I see that one can add new expense categories for a budgeting, but how do I set up budgets my income? I need to have categories within income for my various income sources. Is this possible?
2. How do I set up a budget for one-time expenditures? For example, I might have a tax payment due in April and a big purchase due in August. I don't want to have budgeted amounts for these in every month. I just need to put $x in the April budget and $y in the August budget. How can I do this?
Sincerely,
Hal Segal

Sorry to say this, but currently today you are not able to do eiter one of those in Mint. Mint does not provide budgeting for income catagories, only for expense catagories. This for me also is a major problem since I have a significant amount of income that is variable. Also I'm not sure how they expect to budget for savings with out looking at both income and savings.

As for the one time expeditures you are not able to do this either. Today you can only setup a budget and it is assumed that you will have the same budget every month unless at the begining of the month you reestablish the amount.

I really hope that with the next release of Mint they improve this area. the area I hope for improvement is allowing us to enter a budget date since many of my transaction at the end of the month are actually cleared in the next month and not the budgeted month always.

Not sure what you are asking. If you want to remove the account entirely from Mint you can delete the account. This will remove all history also.

That is a bad idea alanbuzz. Closing your 401k and taking money out early gives you a big tax penalty. Try moving it to another institution if you are not happy.

hal, You can do one time budgets for expenses. Just add the item to the budget and remove it the next month. I am not sure about income budgeting though.
