I have a business paypal account, and I also have something called 'Paypal Security Key', which is this little keychain thing that gives you 6 digits to enter along with your password in order to log in. Check it out https://www.paypal.com/securitykey.

I think the numbers change about every 30 seconds or so.

This must be supported. I'm assuming there are at least a few others with the security key and it really complicates things.

__

So I have a quick fix, but it also still causes problems:

QUICK FIX: When setting up the paypal account users with the security key can just add the 6 given digits to the end of their normal password. This will work for as long as the paypal session is good for.

PROBLEM: Once the paypal session is up, the password is then invalid.

__

SOLUTION: Add a form field that allows optionally allows users with the security key to enter their current security key digits on initial setup, and on every update thereafter.

Ah, that could very well be a problem. Let me include it in my product feedback report.

There are a few others that do this. Bank of America just added a simular option. They have a security code that they will send to your cell phone whenever you add a new bill pay account or want to transfer a large amount of money. This is optional. You can also set it up to where you need it to log into your account to just look at it. This seems to be the next big security thing that is being added.

My bank just did something similar -- Pacific Western Bank -- they added secret questions (3, ugh) that you have to answer one of before you can put in your password.

I assume the only resolution for this is to have Mint check what the question is each time it tries to update (which I'm ok with!) and ask for the answer each time, or have the answers to all three questions available within Mint, so that when it asks a question, it has the password available.

I'd love to use Mint -- the text messaging options are a huge bonus -- but can't until I can add my primary bank account.

any update on when this will be supported?

Thanks

I can't say for sure if dongles would ever be supported because of the fact the password rotates so frequently.

I'm not expecting Mint to log in to PAYPAL without some assistance on their end on getting this to work...

But all the key fob does is give you a number to append to the end of your password on login, so it would be nice if mint offered a pop-up for the key entry every time it tries to log into PayPal

More complicated than it sounds, largely due to the fact that the password rotates so rapidly. As a former PayPal employee, I can also say that I am fairly familiar with their security triggers & that this isn't an easy issue.

I figured out a way around this problem. I created a sub-account in Paypal that is only allowed to view balance. It cannot send money or any other account functions. It lowers my security a bit, but someone viewing my balance is a small trade for the automation.

Paypal has an option that says (I don't have my security key right now. In that case you have to answer more questions or give them your credit card number you have on file w/ them.) Mint could be set-up to just provide this info in order to log-in.
