eg:

$10 for happy hour
to figure out what i specifically spent my cash/money on?
thanks

You can split your cash withdrawal transactions into each payee. A lot of work, but certainly useful. That's one of the reasons why I've switched modes to using my bank card for every single purchase I make now. I used to chide my wife for swiping every $1.50 cup of coffee since it required so much data entry. With that being automatic, it breaks down those categories for me.

thanks... seems like a work around and not really a built-in well thought out feature.
also, if i take out $100, i don't spend it all in one day. i'd like to be able to separate them into each daily expense. i don't see a way to change the date along with splitting.

I've adopted a system where (in normal operation) I only withdraw cash to replentish cash that I spend. For example, I like to keep $100 cash in my wallet. Over a period of time, I might give somebody $20 for something, pay $15 for something in cash, and drop $30 cash for a restaraunt bill if I'm in a hurry (if not in a hurry, I'll pay with credit). At this point, I've deplentished my wallet cash enough that I take a trip to the ATM, withdraw $65, and then split the $65 transaction in Mint into the three categories in which I spent the money. Works for me.
Of course, if for some reason I have to pay for something big in cash (i.e. $300), then I just withdraw that amount from an ATM and then categorize it as normal in Mint.
