How do I cancel an email alert?

Please do the following to cancel an email alert:

1. Login to your Mint account.
2. Click on the “change your alerts” link on the “Summary” page.
3. The alerts’ overview page will give you a summary of the different alert types you can receive via SMS or email.
4. Uncheck the alert(s) you would like to not receive via email.
5. Press “Save”.

This would be a foolproof option if several alerts were not pre-checked for me and there is no way to uncheck them. I don't understand this, and will probably cancel my account over this annoyance. I don't want any alerts, I use the website regularly and don't need them.

But...

Low Balances, Credit Card Bills, and Over Budget are selected under my alerts (mobile) and there is no option to uncheck. I haven't even entered my mobile number, but it sends me emails about all these things (especially Credit Card Bill due) -- even though I do not have the email box checked for that alert.
