When I select a city in SpendSpace, where is the data coming from? Does that include ONLY other Mint users? Or are you getting this data from some other source?

jdud, only other Mint users, in aggregate, no individuals.

Your doubt may be true. When you are talking of finance that made me remind of mutual fund investments.Actually i have a keen interest in mutual fund investments. I have already invested in mutual funds. It is the most reliable way of investing the money. If anyone really interested in investing in mutual funds can try it.There are a no. of websites that provide newsletters and services for investment professionals and individual investors to discover best mutual fund managers and mutual funds for them. I use fundmojo.com myself. It has helped me to achieve private equity return without hefty fees. Try fundmojo.com yourself.

I would be interested to see additional demographic information collected so that I can know that I am comparing my spending to people in similar situations.

That is...number of people in household for starters. Number under 5 years, between 5 & 13, number between 13 & 18, etc.

This information, in aggregate, would help me understand where my financial situation puts me compared to those who are similarly placed in life.

I agree that it would be nice for Mint to collct my general demographics and then compare to a similar group. Demographic attributes I would like to understand include:

1. Age of main income earner
2. Size of household
3. income of household

i would like to see at least the size of the household. i would also like to see how many mint users are in my demographic. sometimes i think that my spending behaviors are pushing the pattern around and it makes me look like im going with the average, but i may be one of 3 people in my city using mint.:p

At this point, the SpendSpace comparisons are useless to me, since my account represents a family of four and the SpendSpace data is aggregated from all Mint users regardless of family size.
