View Full Version : USAA Loans never download transactions

I've setup a "USAA Bank - Loan" but it never seems to download transactions. It establishes the connection, authenticates and then just sits at downloading transactions till it gives up and asks me to retry.

Is there anything special I need to do with USAA to this working?

Exact same situation here. What a tease!

Not sure why USAA bank accounts and investments work, but loans don't?

I have the same issue and have emailed support, but so far only gotten a generic "make sure your security questions are correct" response (they are).

The loan account support was launched to support gathering balance information only right now. Future iterations of the product will include more detailed information about the loan account, including what would be considered "transaction" information.

Damon -- thanks for the reply. The problem we're experiencing is that the account won't add at all, including basic balance info. The account has never shown up on my "Overview" page, it just remains stuck at "Downloading transactions" on the accounts tab for several minutes. Eventually the accounts tab gives the message "This seems to be taking too long / Trying again should do the trick" Unfortunately, trying again never does the trick.

I am pretty much having problems with all my USAA accounts, bank, investments, and loan. Like others the loan has never added because it cannot get past the downloading transactions. Investments have not updated for a month because I keep getting the "We are having problems now" failure message. Since I do the majority of my stuff with USAA this is real annoying.

I'm having the same issue, it just gets stuck on downloading transactions and never gets beyond that to add the account. This is my only loan and would put everything I have on Mint, I hope you can resolve this problem!

Is anyone getting any feedback from mint.com on these ongoing USAA issues? I had my investments working fine but now they have not updated in the last 4 weeks. I tried adding a loan, using of course the same creds, but just get the downloading transactions forever until it goes to a message about it appearing to take too long. Must have tried adding the loan 10 or 15 times with no success. Would like to make full use of Mint but this is a show stopper.

My wife and I are USAA members.
We both have two USAA Bank checking accounts.
We both have separate Mint accounts.
From January - June 2008, we used Mint & USAA Bank as folllows:
I added both checking accounts and our USAA credit card to my Mint account.
I disabled one of the two checking accounts inside Mint.
My wife then added only the USAA checking account which I had disabled.
Under this arrangement, I could see the balance of the account which she budgeted through Mint.
I budgeted/controlled the other USAA checking account and the credit card.

On/about 12JUL08, we noticed that she could not get her Mint account to log into USAA and download her USAA's account transactions. This is the case as of today.

However, I have been able to use my Mint account to access all three of our USAA accounts throughout this time period. I have had no interruption in service.

Regardless, this issue is critical to our family's continued use of Mint. If my wife cannot budget with Mint, I will likely buy a software tool and have no need to continue using Mint myself. I do hope this issue can be resolved relatively soon.

I did hear back from a representative but he just said that I need to add my account (apparently he misunderstood that my trouble lied in actually adding the account). Since then I have not heard a thing about the USAA loan accounts.

Just wanted to say that I've had exactly the same problem adding a USAA loan account. Hangs on "downloading transactions" and then stops with message "this seems to be taking too long." I hope we'll get some response soon about what can (or can't) be done.

I believe I mentioned this in another post...

Loans currently only pull balances only. Items that are transactional in nature will be coming in a future release.

Damon, you're missing the point. We are unable to add the account, period. No balance, no transactions, nothing. When trying to add the account it freezes up when it says that it tries to add transactions and never gets added.

All I want is balance information, but we can't even get that far.

I am also not getiing where it displays my loan balance. If the administrator is correct, then I should at least be able to see my loan balance. I don't see this, I don't get the account to even add.

I just want to know the status of it. If it works, great, if it doesn't, OK...but I and others don't want to be in the dark about it.

I'll just phrase my statement as "Balances do not showup for the USAA Loans". I'll leave the transactions not showing up for another post.

My other USAA accounts update and display just fine, but not anything having to do with the USAA Loans.

When I try to add a USAA Loan (an Auto Loan) it claims that it cannot find the account.

It can find other USAA accounts (Investment, Checking) without issue.

Damon,
It seems you posted twice to the USAA Loans Problem forum without understanding what the primary issue is with adding the account(s). When individuals attempt to 'Add Account' for USAA Loans, Mint.com goes through the process of 'Establishing Secure Connection' then 'Authenticating', but ultimately it does NOT complete the 'Downloading Transactions' and times out. Users never get to the point where Mint.com finishes 'Categorizing & Finding Savings' nor does it accumulate even the basic 'Balance' as you say it should. I at least find solace in the fact that I'm not the only one this is happening to, but this also being the first issue I had to look for a resolution for in the forums, I would have hoped for more thorough response to users problems, not an explanation of working account data.

I got an email saying that they deployed the mortgage/loans section and decided to try logging in to see if it worked and I saw my loan balance sitting there. So good job, whatever you guys did :)

Excellent. Works as expected, set it up again just now. It does display the balance only, as the administrator stated. Looking forward to it grabbing more details, as the payment reminder would be great to have for this as well.

But we'll get there, thanks for the work on this.

I have been looking into some if the add account issues with USAA. For the last several days about 6 in 10 people that try to add the USAA loan account are successful. This is below average but not horrible when compared to other loan accounts. For the folks that are still having failures, there is a usually a common thread. Sometimes loans that were issued from another bank\underwriter, and then acquired by USAA can be the issue. If so inclined, send me an email aforth@mint.com and I can investigate further.

Some others points of interest. Mint will send bill reminders for loan payments. This is a new feature...if you have already set your account up to get notified of credit card bills and you have added a loan, you should get a bill reminder.

Balance vs. transactions.....as of today (assuming you have successfully added your account) you will only see the balance for your loans. In the coming weeks we will add more information, such as transactions, details about the loan product itself and (the feature I personally love) notification when your interest rate changes.
