Mint is awesome, obviously Mint.com wasn't created to read everyone in the world's mind and somehow know how you want to create your own budget. It took the most LOGICAL one. So rather than changing the way Mint tells you how you are spending more than you should, why don't you just the budget the way Mint.com has it set up, by logical category.

Furthermore, Mint.com is not a free comprehensive accounting system, it's a method to track your ELECTRONIC transactions, and monitor your CASH / CREDIT CARDS. It's not going to monitor the money you have stuffed in your mattresses. If you need a comprehensive system, buy quickbooks for yourself.

From some of the demands I'm already seeing in the forum, It would be a scary product that mint creates if it catered to everyone. I think some things still need to be the way they are.

Budgeting is great the way it is, theoretically. I just want it to work. (It is rounding everything up $5-$10, which often puts things over budget and gives me alerts. When I delete the alerts, they just come back in a few hours.

Hey Folks,

The current iteration of budgets does have some limitations, even if it works ok for some customers the current way. We will be addressing some of these issues in a coming release (looking at past budgets, for example).
