Damon,

I've search the forums up and down, and I find a lot of people asking the same question, however htat's usually where the thread dies. I find you are very helpful and try very hard, but it does honestly concern me that it almost seems like you're 'evading' this question. So here it goes again:

1. When I remove a bank account from my Mint.Com account, are all traces of the account removed from you AND all your affiliates/Contractors, including Yodlee?

This question has gone unanswered several times in this forum. However, Mint.Com uses Yodlee as a reference and security benchmark several times throughout the Mint.Com site. On the front page, on the FAQ pages, on the Security-FAQ pages, on the About Us pages.

It should be no surprised that this question arises again and again. Mint.Com maintains virtually no personally identifiable information, but your Partner Yodlee, most certainly does. If they're going to continue to be such a prominent partner in your product, it's important that THEIR privacy guidelines as it applies to your customers, are clearly known as well.

Please respond to this question with an appropriate response. If you're still unable to answer the questions in this post, I kindly request that your forward this request on to your management team, so that they may evaluate the situation and respond appropriately.

Regards,

We will try to get the answer on our next call with our provider. I don't have an answer right now.

Note: From what it seems, the information is removed when you remove the account(s) in question.

Well, you said in this thread (http://forums.mint.com/showthread.php?t=845) on 9/19/2007 (over 8 months ago) that you'd get an answer for this exact question. I'm still waiting, and talking to myself on that other thread I guess.

You are passing my bank login details to a partner, and you don't know what their policy is for deleting that information if I delete my account with you?

Are you serious?

Hey, the Damon is not the legal department. He's more like the helpdesk admin/ issue receptionist! Give them a little break!

I agree, this is information we should have easily available, but it's not absurd that the individual monitoring the forums doesn't know the exact specifics off the top of his/her head.

That being said, perhaps Mint needs to add a specific link to the security policies of the contractors/partners/etc that have access to our information.

How about we let Damon speak for himself? Damon? You still with us?

It's been four days since I posted, and no one from Mint has replied yet. I'd say that's plenty of time to get a real answer from Legal (or whomever). I'd also say it's a bad sign.

Mint- do you care at all about this issue?

Here's a link to a blog, maybe one can track it back to the mint founders to confirm the post is true:

http://blog.filife.com/mint-is-your-bank-information-secure/

On the Yodlee side, their site comments on whether or not the data is purged:

http://moneycenter.yodlee.com

...and click on the security policy link.

When you close your Mint account, all financial information is purged from our system, and from Yodlee. We keep only a record of your email address, and when you logged in – for our own security auditing purposes. Information does exist in backup databases for perhaps up to 48 hours, but is purged there too.

From our Privacy and Security Policy:
13. You can transport or delete your data

Your data is yours. You can remove it anytime you want. When you request us to delete your account for the Service, your data will be permanently expunged from our primary production servers and further access to your account will not be possible. We will also promptly disconnect any connection we had established to your Account Information. However, portions of your data, consisting of aggregate data derived from your Account Information, may remain on our production servers indefinitely. Your data may also remain on a backup server or media. Mint keeps these backups to ensure our continued ability to provide the Service to you in the event of malfunction or damage to our primary production servers.
