Realistic goals
To make a lot of money in stocks first you have to have a lot of money. To trade stocks on a shoestring - Reminiscences of a Stock Operator Illustrated (http://www.amazon.com/Reminiscences-Stock-Operator-Illustrated-Marketplace/dp/0471678767/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209137769&sr=1-1). Set a realistic expextation. Markets are volitile. You will win some and lose some. Investing is a long term process.
To learn about the basics, read a couple of books about how the markets and investing works. Additionally, read finanacial news and watch how stocks react to news and earnings anouncements.
Once you have a good feel, pick a few companies and start a diverse portfolio. If that is not realistic due to your financial means, invest in a fund. (ETF, Index, or Mutual). Each of those has differences that are important to know, such as fee structures.
The most important part of investing is doing so in an educated way.

There are no ways to get rich quickly. Here's an article that I stumbled across on the web that has very sensible advice and will save you a ton on fees.

I am planning to start a self business and looking for business grants for small business. Does anyone know what sites to look at, I know that I'll have to write a proposal and such, but I need to know what sites are legit and which ones are scams. There are so many ads in the newspaper and in American Classifieds, but I don't trust them. Has anyone ever tried for one and how did you go about do this? I need your suggestion. Thank you very much.

You can also look into SBA loans. They are federally guaranteed, so banks like to do them.

Well, this is one area you should be very very careful with your money because you have to understand the risk that you undertake investing in stocks. With the current financial crisis the market has faced you better think twice about your investment options before making the decisions. However, my suggestion is that you search the web to find some quality guides and ebooks which are available for stock market beginners rather than taking any one else's word. TO EACH HIS OWN!! Remember that!!
