Just found a bunch of duplicate transactions in my accounts. I know Mint is working on this issue, but it will never be 100% perfect. Mint has to rely on the source data and hope that the details don't change.
Here is what I'd like to see. I press a button and Mint displays all of the potential duplicate transactions. I can then review and flag myself it is a real duplicate. Once complete, Mint will delete (or hide) the dupes.
The dup logic could be something like:
- Is amount same
- Is transaction date within 1 days (plus or minus)
- Is same account
- Is merchant “almost” the same
The logic can be refined as learning improves.
Call it the "Dupe Sniffer"
