Hi

The login for Emigrant Direct bank savings is not working. I tried using all of their security questions (4 of them), and it still won't let me log on.

Thanks, Pavi

I've had the same problem for the past few weeks. Anyone have any luck with this?

Can you check the tips below to see if it helps w/security questions?

Adding Account Tips:

If you are being confronted with a security box asking you for questions and answers when adding a bank or credit card, below are some tips that might help you answer them.

1. Answer as many questions as you put on file when you registered with your bank.

2. The number of questions you need to answer may be less than the number of form fields displayed on the page.

3. If you've forgotten the questions you were asked when you created the account, you can try going to your bank's actual website to retrieve the answers (some banks offer this).

4. If no to #3 above, perhaps you can try calling your institution to get the answers to the questions presented.

Additional Notes:
Security Questions may be case-sensitive.

Entering the security questions in the same order as the drop down box provided may be beneficial.

I have the same problem. When I use the 'try again' option and fill everything in again it works, but the next day I get the same error message again. I did copy and paste all questions and answers from Emigrant to Mint, in the same order.

I called my institution, and it was a problem on their end. I got mine resolved!

Curious as to what Emigrant said?

Note: I do have a bug filed because the form might be causing issues for some customers. The mm/dd/yyyy field isn't proper.

Logging into Emigrant is still very buggy. Works great for a few days, doesn't work at all for a few days..

I'm having the same problem. My guess is the issue has to do with how emigrant will ask a random question each time you login. If they happen to ask the year you were born the login fails because that is where the form is buggy. However if they ask you the month or a security question, it works. This is most likely where the randomness is coming from.

Agree with Zippygoose's observation. Mint's login form for Emigrant is a little wonky. Can someone from the support team explain the following observations?

I can not get Emigrant Direct to work either. And I would also like to understand the wonkiness of the login form as pointed out by greydream.

Is anybody from Mint still reading this forum? Does anybody know how to get Emigrant to work again?

I FINALLY got my Emigrant Direct account to login and update. I'm not sure if it was just luck this time, or maybe I figured it out.

As was pointed out here, the login form on Mint for Emigrant is currently screwed up. It looks like it's asking for your social security number twice, however I think the top ss field is where your supposed to enter your password again. So it should be asking for your password twice. Anyway, so I put in my password twice and and my social security number once in the bottom field, and filled everything else out like normal and it worked this time. Still don't know why there's not a drop down to enter the year for date of birth, but it still worked for me.

Well... The Emigrant Direct add account form doesn't work any more. I've tried over a dozen times and I can't get it to successfully connect at all.

Good news is that mint finally replied today to the e-mail that I sent several weeks ago about this bug acknowledging that this is indeed a bug. Bad news is that they claim it's a bug in their provider's system and they can't do anything about it. Let's hope their provider is quicker at acknowledging and fixing bugs than mint.

In filled the textfield above the DOB with my birth year, and the logging process worked fine. Can anybody confirm if this is a true fix or I was just lucky?
Thanks,
Dario

I'm new, as in just setup today and I'm also seeing the oddities described in this thread. Thought I'd add another voice to the chorus.
And for what it's worth I tried both year of birth and SSN in that extra box under the first SSN and it seemed to work only when I entered SSN. Later this evening when I returned there was an error telling me Mint couldn't connect.

There seems to be two threads about this and both of them died off at around the same time, without any solutions, and i haven't seen any resolution with this issue on my account still, so i was wondering what the latest status was...

I tried your suggestion and it worked for me too.

Thanks!

I was also able to login by putting my birth year in the field below the ssn field. But since Emigrant Direct asks a random question at each login I'm not 100% sure that it's the solution. Only if it never fails logging in from here on out will I know its the right solution.

This also worked for me just now. I'm hoping it continues to work.

This is correct. Mint cannot synch up with Emigrant when Emigrant is asking for the year you were born in as the random security question, because there is no field to enter that year on mint.

You'll notice that when you're asked to verify your Emigrant login info on mint the DOB field only has Month and Day.

However, in this thread someone mentions that if you enter the year in the second SSN field (which is immediately above the DOB drop down and doesn't encode the numbers when you enter them) this seems to fix the problem.

It's really just a layout screwup on mint's part. Should be easily fixed, if they address it.

Same problem here. I have an Emigrant Direct account and no matter what I put in the mystery field I still get denied. I had really been looking forward to using Mint but if they can't get this fixed then I'll just stick with yodlee.

I finally got this to work. In your social security field only put the last 4 digits. In the random blank box above the month and date drop down boxes, put your birth year.

Seriously mint, this problem is what now, 6 months old.

Just worked for me now too. I've never been able to connect until today. I did:

Full SSN in first box
Birth year in second box

Hi Dario,

Thanks for the sharing your input. It sure helps! ;)

But as the log in form is still confusing, we are working on changing it. We will post in the Mint Forum Announcements once form has been fixed.

It would be great if this issue is resolved. I can often get Emigrant to work for several sessions, but at some point it goes down and Mint wants me to enter in ALL of the information I've previously entered all over again. Very frustrating.

Mint is great, but it sure would be nice if there was some way to resolve this issue.

The login/update for my EmigrantDirect savings account also only works occasionally, and never without having to re-enter all of my account information. I submitted a bug ticket, and hope the issue gets resolved soon..

I tried Samuofm's suggestion of putting in only the last 4 digits in the SS field and the year of birth in the field below that and now, instead of getting a wrong username and password message, I get a message from Mint that says, "Your bank site is down for maintenance." Which is not true because i'm able to log on directly. Has anyone else gotten this message with emigrant?

It seems to be working for me now for the past 2 days. (without changing anything) Not sure if we are just getting lucky or Mint actually fixed the problem. Time will tell.

I am still having problems using EmigrantDirect with Mint.com (I'm using Firefox 2.0 as my browser if that matters)

For 2 weeks now my Mint.com login for EmigrantDirect has been failing and not retrieving any new transactions. I have not touched or updated my account information until today.

I've tried all of the earlier suggestions in this thread and none are working. I do have a long password (12 or so chars) and am wondering if the form field in Mint is getting truncated or something upon form submission.

I'm not too happy about this. Yes mint.com is a free service; but when i start a ticket and have documented proof that I'm not the only one JUST in my circle of friends that is having issues with mint.com and the support person from mint treats me like a child I get a bit irritated.

Basically I was told via the reply to my 2nd ticket about this issue that I need to verify that my information is being entered correctly. It is; and I've re verified over and over again.

Do a google search and this is happening to many people. I work in network engineering. If the company I work for told customers "well you need to fix the issue that is happening to 100s of people yourself" I wouldn't have a job and the company I work for would be out of business. I'm sorry but the onus is on mint.com to resolve this issue. You can't tell me that emigrant has some magic system that is so entirely different than any other system in the industry.

FYI, I posted this on another forum thread as well...

I'm not sure how its working, but Emigrant Direct seems to be working fine for me now. I first got it working back in late 2008. At that time it was very sporadic when it would connect and when it wouldn't. Then there was a period of time (Feb-early April) when it would never connect no matter what I did or how many times I tried to re-enter my information into mint for this account (which is terribly annoying btw). However, I decided to try it again in early April of 2009 and it connected just fine. And every day that I log into mint, it gets an update from Emigrant Direct (ED) without problem. I'm not sure why mine just started working now. During the Feb-early April time period, I logged into ED and filled out all of the possible fields for custom questions (there's 5 or 6 of them). I also noticed that there is a character limit for the custom question field (I think its in Mint's form), so I tailored the questions to make sure they fit into this character limit and then updated them in ED and Mint. As I mentioned, I did this in the Feb-early April period and that still seemed like it didn't work. Maybe there was another problem that got fixed and now my tricks are allowing me to successfully connect to ED? Just thought I'd contribute my cents. Hopefully this might work for some of you, too.

I'm having the same issues everyone seems to be describing here:

- I'll set up my EmigrantDirect Savings account correctly the first time in Mint
- When I return the next day and try to update my account, it errors out and I have to re-enter all my information from scratch.

Is anyone from Mint monitoring this? I notice that this forum thread has been open since early 2007...
