I am on a Mac. When I open activity monitor I can see CPU usage or CPU history. History shows usage through time, in a chart.

When checking securities charts we have a choice of quotes or price history in the form of charts. It seems like ten or twelve years ago, one of these programs let us view financial data in charts. We could switch from line charts as securities are usually shown, pie charts or bar charts like some cell phone strength.

It looks like Mint updates our accounts and holds the totals for at least a day. Suppose this data could be stored longer, giving us the option to see balance charts, on a daily, weekly, monthly, or custom time frame.

Charts would show us trends. Specifically when we are going off course, so that we could do something about it. Of interest to me is seeing declining balances when I am paying something off.

I agree.

I used to use quicken and they always had a "total value" chart which described how my assets minus debts went up or down over time. Really that is my bottom line. That is what I am the most interested in. This fix would be great.

I'm assuming the data is stored in some kind of database for ALL of my history. Scraping that data shouldn't even require much change.

I agree, an historical chart of my total worth is a very good tool to see how you're doing financially. I am surprise mint doesn't have that.

Yes, that's definitely missing in Mint.
It's kind of weird, even for a beta version,, considering the overall quality of the website...
... it's so weird I'm afraid it's actually a well thought decision!

Hope they'll fix this very soon, or I'll go back to Quicken.

well, they have a basic bar chart. If you go to your "Overview" page, scroll all the way down, and then on the left you will see a chart that shows your income vs expenses for the past 6 months.

your total expenses are subtracted from your total income from that month's transactions. It then chart's the result. So if it is green, you made more than you spent, if it is slowly going down, you are spending more than you make.

Here is a screenshot of mine (http://www.filedropper.com/credit-vs-debit). See, in July, I bought a new laptop, so I am in a bit of a deficit. Even thought I had been saving for the previous months for it. I am still in the "negative" in pure positive/negative terms for that month even though I still had money in my accounts.

No, it does not chart your totals more than a month-to-month basis. As you can see from mine, although I have not yet "recovered" from my purchase, this month I am only down a few $100 for expenses from this month only (I don't get paid till next week!!). It is not historical more than 1 month. It is a very basic trent overview, useful for as a pure gain/loss per month view.

Currently this is all they have.
