Hello out there-

I'm a very happy Mint user. Just curious though, as someone who does a lot of personal research on checking, savings, and other rates, what kind of guarantee is there that the "ways to save" being recommended to me by Mint are the best available deals? Does this feature mean that I can stop scouring Bankrate every few weeks? I'd like to know how accurate and current this information is.

Thanks for a great service.

Link that you might find of interest:

Additional info:
Mint's "Ways to Save" page offer matching logic is largely dependent upon what we know about the customer's current account at that time and the offer as we read it. Because we don't have perfect information about any customer, largely due the fact that we don't see all financial activities done by a customer, the current product does have some limitations that will be improving over time

More info:
On the mint site, you see only offers that are calculated to save you money. Mint maintains and provides a mixer of sponsored and non-sponsored offers in our system. Our algorithm shows the best rate or lowest price first, regardless of whether Mint is paid by that provider or not. Sometimes results we get paid for come out on top, sometimes they do not.

Note: The algorithm does offer the best offer (based on above), even if we don't make money. The only serious limitation is that we don't always know the full financial picture of any customer, largely due to the fact that we may not have all of their accounts on file.

gertie,
The whole idea behind a forum like this is to give suggestions. Ultimately, anything to do with personal finance, you should be checking on and verifying by yourself.
