I've seen some success (not 100%) with instructing folks to do the following:
Search by the bank URL (bankofamerica.com, for example).
You will see choices for both credit card and bank accounts. Try to add these items separately if you have more than one account type at the bank.
I just had a customer get through ok doing this for BB&T (bbandt.com) (http://bbandt.com/)
and think it might help with some other large banks as well (M&T, Washington Mutual (WAMU), etc.).
Note: I can't guarantee it because there are some other issues going on right now. It might help, though.
Reminder: Mint currently only accepts bank and credit card accounts. Loans, 401k, etc., aren't accepted right now.
