Lets say, I have a Macy's Credit Card.

In the month of August, I shop for 100 dollars using that card. So I would like to categorzie that as "Shopping" for that amount.

Now using my checking account auto pay option, I pay off that bill in September. A very simple scenario, we all do this all the time !! right ??

Now, here is the question

How should I categorize these 2 transactions, in a manner that they make sense ? Any Advice ?? :rolleyes:

What I personally would do is categorize the actual purchase on the credit card account as "Shopping" and the payment from the checking account as "Credit card payment" (bottom right of categorization list, under the Transfer section).

This way the categorization would better reflect actual spendings.
